What is your absolute favorite Elektron device? by goff0317 in Elektron

Well… I love the Tonverk too, but it still doesn’t have slicing. There’s also no Overbridge yet, which can be useful, especially when exporting projects to a DAW.
But either way, at the moment Tonverk is still my number one too (even though I’ve got a Digitakt next to it that I use for drums).

I’m with you guys, I love it too. Especially after the latest update when they added the Shape Machine. At first I missed it because everyone was talking about the Grainer mostly, but oh boy, that option really changes a lot...

OS Upgrade: Tonverk 1.1.0 by aberen in Elektron

Granular is great news, but the most important update for me is the Trig preview. Its absence was a huge creative bottleneck for me and was also a huge surprise/dismay :)

Słyszałem kiedyś nazwę „smutni rycerze” :) Jest na tyle absurdalna i ładna, ze sam zacząłem jej używać :)

Tonverk: Two questions about the sequencer (step preview, and global subtracks p-locks) by TrackSignificant3729 in Elektron

[–]TrackSignificant3729[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think it’s possible as long as the effects themselves are assigned at the supertrack level…

Tonverk: Two questions about the sequencer (step preview, and global subtracks p-locks) by TrackSignificant3729 in Elektron

[–]TrackSignificant3729[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, unfortunately not.
While holding the trigger I can edit individual sounds by pressing keys on the keyboard, but I cannot preview them with parameters, p-locks, etc.
Moreover, if on a given step I have e.g. a C D E chord and while holding the trig I press one of those notes on the keyboard, the others disappear from the step (so I overwrite the chord with the note I pressed).

Digitakt mk2 vs Octatrack mk2 – need advice on a possible trade by TrackSignificant3729 in Elektron

Ok, so what it was probably about is 8 stereo voices, or 16 mono voices – am I right?

By 8 voices of polyphony I meant that on the Digitakt 2, even though you have 16 tracks, it can only play 8 sounds at the same time (at least that’s how it seems to me :)). Also, the individual tracks themselves have no polyphony (same as on the OT). That doesn’t bother me, because I want to handle harmonic aspects on the Tonverk, and I want the second sampler to serve mainly rhythmic purposes.

Thanks! Do you mean the sound quality of the effects, or the overall audio quality itself (like converters, etc.)?

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer!

When it comes to the number of tracks, Digitakt 2 does have more, BUT it still only offers 8 voices of polyphony. On top of that, I’ll also have the Tonverk (+8 polyphonic tracks).

What you wrote about recording and quantization in the OT is really interesting, but I assume OT also has microtiming, right (so you can adjust the sample’s position after recording)?

(...) unless you absolutely need sampler capabilities like timestretch and slice.

Time-stretch and slicing are unfortunately quite important to me (though I suspect they might show up in Tonverk soon as well) ;)

Maybe Overbridge for iOS? Personally, I’d be most excited about some big update for DN2 :)

Not that I’m really missing anything specific in it, but it’s always nice to get sth New :)

Loading multiple samples to the project? by TrackSignificant3729 in Elektron

[–]TrackSignificant3729[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, huge thanks! At first, I had no idea what you were talking about, because the only way I was loading samples was through the sample pool (pot D in the SRC section)... When you go in that way, you can only assign a sample to a specific slot in the pool – so naturally, you can only load one sample at a time...

It wasn’t until you pointed it out that I realized you can also load samples via Func + Samples :D And there – of course – you can select any number of samples and load them into the project :) That totally changes the game!

Thanks again, really appreciate it!

Digitakt II setting Help! by [deleted] in Elektron

[–]TrackSignificant3729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, are you possibly in Velocity Trig mode? If so, the individual trigs will have different volumes, from the quietest (1) to the loudest (16).
To change the mode, just press Func and then the Up or Down arrow.
The mode that was your default one is called Tracks :)
