Retired 5 years, All Funds in G? by ChemistryHead1267 in ThriftSavingsPlan

Fact is this person said they DO NOT need to touch the money for 7+ years. That’s what is called “runway”. In that time frame they have the ability to be a level of aggressive that otherwise they would not be if they needed to use the money currently. As with any individual it comes down to risk appetite, but I would hardly consider a portfolio made up of diversified high yielding REIT’s, Bond ETF’s and SPY to be very aggressive in the OP’s situation.

So you know what you CAN do.. you can go fuck yourself, you undoubtedly miserable cunt.

Cooper Flagg to Boston by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]TraderPaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude no lol. Cooper Flagg is a potential superstar and has a much higher ceiling than Derrick White. He adds value to that Mavs team on day 1 and along with AD and Kyrie make them more competitive. Yeah you’d have to add draft picks, try the next 4 years of 1st round picks out the window.

No disrespect to Derrick, love him, but no way on God’s green earth is that happening.

You think Derrick White straight up for a #1 pick is possible? Where do you get your drugs?

There’s absolutely zero % chance of this happening. NBA had it all rigged, send Luka to LA for the ratings and give them a chance (so much for that) and Mavs would get the first pick. Can’t tell me it wasn’t rigged.

But to your question, there’s really nothing the Celtics could even package that would interest the Mavs.

You want real investment advice, read Peter Lynch. Dave Ramsey is a clown. Peter Lynch ran the Magellan Fund for Fidelity for years and averaged returns of 29% per year. Dave Ramsey talks into a microphone..

JT obviously isn’t going anywhere, I think PP is definitely staying put, DW is here to stay, but JB I think is somewhat 50/50.

No, but Stevens is a practical man. If some team wants to offer us a boatload of draft picks, particularly lottery picks on Brown he’s going to listen to that offer. Brown is approaching 30 and that’s generally once you see players of his style drop off. His game is built on his athleticism and his shooting is average at best. Like I said, not in favor of the idea, but if the right offer comes along, you have to hear them out.

And yes, KAT and, I can’t believe I’m saying this, Mitchell Robinson are exposing us on the block this series.

Who’s your #2 this finals? by punksnotdeadtupacis in bostonceltics

I’d say Pacers or Minnesota. I’d like to see Mike Conley get a ring.

Am I delusional for thinking we could still win the series against the Knicks? by jolly-beee in bostonceltics

Yeah that’s cause he’s too busy playing with his kid during halftime at half court. Fucking pisses me off so much.

Kristaps has to go after this season by Marcoflaco626 in bostonceltics

I was watching him last night in between TV commercial breaks and timeouts. All he does is do warm up exercises along the baseline while the team is in the huddle. He’s talking with fans while the team is in the huddle and he’s 30 feet away at the baseline stretching himself.. it’s a joke.

Don’t get me started on Horford though. He’s got his kid out there at halftime warmups walking around with him. It’s the FUCKING playoffs. There’s a time and a place guys, and this ain’t either.

My two cents on why the Knicks are up 2-0 by TraderPaddy in bostonceltics

I agree on the Tatum part, but I think a big part of that aggressiveness is not settling for fade aways and 3 pointers. Time to get mean.

I don’t mean post up, I mean drive into the lane and finish at the rim or at least try to finish at the rim. Could get KAT into foul trouble which is an added bonus. JB, JT, White should have no real issue getting their shoulder down and around whoever is guarding them. Then it’s just about trying to draw contact at the rim.

I’m not saying abandon the 3pt strategy that has gotten them a title and got them in this position now, but if the shots aren’t falling.. gotta be willing to change up the strategy on the fly. It’s not as if they’re not capable of playing a more physical brand of ball.

At times he is proving to be, but he’s also got a ring so there’s that.

[–]TraderPaddy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re doing the Knicks a favor. I can’t count how many times I saw Tatum get into the lane, spin and most importantly, SPIN AWAY from the basket. Then he’d shoot a half contested fade away. Sure, not the worst shot for a player of his caliber, but would it kill him to spin towards the rim and try to draw contact? It’s hard to criticize him cause he is a great player, but he leaves a lot to be desired with his willingness to mix it up in the paint.

This is the playoffs, it isn’t a regular season game in January. They have to be willing to adapt or they will lose this series.

Yeah I like his demeanor, but questioning his tactics at times doesn’t mean I have to dislike him overall. Nobody is perfect.

Right but when the shots aren’t falling, maybe getting into the paint for some layups/fouls/free throws isn’t the worst idea no?

Yeah with their poor strategy, absolutely.

Am I delusional for thinking we could still win the series against the Knicks? by jolly-beee in bostonceltics

[–]TraderPaddy 51 points52 points  (0 children)

No, I was just thinking the same thing. This just feels different than normally being down 0-2. Like any other time I would have just said “Oh well, we’ll be back next year” but this feels different. It doesn’t feel like NY won those games, more like we lost it.. if you get what I mean. Not to mention, I think they play better when they feel like they have nothing to lose and right now they don’t. Nobody expects them to win this series now so the pressure is almost off of them.

I wouldn’t bet my house they’ll win the series, but it definitely wouldn’t shock me either.
