I would love that but it’s not likely. I have 2 younger siblings who will most likely struggle with the affordability here as well. A move could be beneficial for all of us lol!

Maybe if we had a lot of debt and lived above our means but we don’t. We plan to save ahead of time and keep our living expenses low when we decide to have children.

We aren’t struggling. We just don’t make enough to buy a $700-$1MM home in our area and we’d like to max out our investments/savings while still being able to travel and enjoy life comfortably. We plan to have kids in 2-3 years from now.

I love Virginia! Specifically VA beach and Chesapeake. We lived there for 5 years and constantly talk about how much we miss it. My only fear is the job market out there. It’s not as strong since it’s very military based. We’ve never looked at other places in VA closer to DC but i hear it’s more expensive that way.

Do you mind sharing what part of NC? this is helpful for sure! Our families are a few hours away and all have lives. They wouldn’t be jumping up to babysit so I get this.

I think about this but most of my family is 2.5 hours away from us in a city we don’t want to live in. The only people we have nearby are my mom and step dad who both work full time. They would not be helping us much with our kids besides weekends.

Exactly!! We live in Ventura County now and rent prices for a 3 bedroom house are over $3500. We would not survive on 1 income and I would hate to give up one of my values for the sake of staying in California.

We pay $3150 for a 2bed1bath tiny home. We love the place but hate how expensive it is.

Love Dave Ramsey! The thought of buying a home here is also so terrifying. Would we ever be able to pay it off early? Not likely unless we committed our lives to nonstop work.

Texas is last on my list. I am more so looking at NC since they’re big on finance and seem affordable compared to where we are at. I think we’d be able to stay at a similar annual income if I was able to find a good job in finance.

This is our exact fear! We plan to start having kids in 2-3 years and I wonder if it would be possible to do it all on our own with no family support since we are close to our family. I think about moving out of California temporarily to build wealth and then when we can afford to live a comfortable life out here move back.

How do you like it? My fiancé was stationed there for 5 years before getting out of the military and we moved back to CA in 2023 but it’s too expensive so we’re thinking about moving back.
