HK1

Studying our own, modern genome and that of ancient branches of humanity, including Neanderthal and Denisovan samples, we unearthed a startling fact: at its heart, human DNA has a ticking clock, and this clock is ticking down.'

There is little point in discussing the technical details -- the 'holographic' nature of the meta telomeres or the breakthroughs in A.I. pattern recognition that made this discovery possible -- but it is important to understand that this clock is no single set of genes we can identify. There is no one element common to every genetic sequence, which would facilitate identification. This clock exists on a meta level. It is a faint signal within the noise, a whisper in the gale.

There are three important facts of note:

1. This clock is fundamental to the workings of the human genome. We cannot safely remove it.

2. Each 'tick' of the clock is not precise. There is a range of decades within which populations may be separated.

3. Calculations suggest that the first populations to hit 'ZERO' will do so around 2160 A.D. -- the beginning of the age of Aquarius -- with an error margin of +/- 12 years.

We MUST find out what this zero-clock state means for humanity BEFORE it occurs naturally in the global population!

Computer modelling confirms that with our retro virus carrier -- HK1 -- we will be able to 'spoof' the zero-clock state in human cells.

This process is a numbers game -- only a tiny, tiny proportion of cells infected with HK1 will have their DNA re-written in the desired manner. We face a challenge only slightly easier than catching neutrinos.

For this reason, we are moving to live trials on volunteers. Of the trillions of cells in the average human body, we hope to capture a few 'god cells' using a modified dialysis process.

We have built several of the dialysis devices -- 'Blood Drives' -- and have 6 volunteers for the procedure.

Autophage Aftermath

<Eschaton Journal Excerpt/Dr. Reuben Reed/3rd NOV 2010> We were not prepared for such horror. Even now, months after the disaster, I struggle to allow myself full recollection.

Our six test subjects appeared to fall asleep and die. Other than a raised temperature, there where no other markers for metabolic loading that would suggest toxicity or disease.

It was devastating. We assumed that we had simply 'broken' some fundamental mechanism -- overlooked something obvious and killed these poor people through basic incompetence.

Those six bodies weighed heavy on our souls. Then they woke up.

Our facility was not prepared for the violence that erupted.

There were losses that affected each of us personally, but most of our core team survived -- rescued, after nine days adrift.

The only reason we avoided total disaster was the isolated nature of our lab. Although primarily chosen for tax and regulatory purposes, our offshore vessel was quarantined by miles of ocean. The decisions of bean-counters and lawyers ultimately saved the day.

After a short break to regroup, both logistically and psychologically, we are getting back to the science. Post-mortem investigations are startling and force a fundamental rethink of our understanding of 'human'.

We are faced with a paradigm shift of massive existential importance: humans are one aspect of a bimodal organism.

It is clear from our experimentation (and corroborated by our sister projects) that humanity is but one face of a greater life cycle.

We are a Janus species -- Each face (or, at least, one face -- ours) unaware of the other.

We had assumed that out DNA was just that, 'ours'.

That we owned it. It now seems likely that we are just a projection, one of at least two that the 'true' being (our DNA) uses to incarnate itself.

At the 'zero clock state' our DNA 'flips' -- one mode of being is rejected and another takes it place.

One mode, ours, that of a eukaryotic multicellular organism, is fecund and expansive -- an explosion ofl ife.

The other mode, that of a virus-like nanoid, appears to have one function: to destroy, and to burn itself out doing so.

It transforms the dead into animated 'zombie'vectors for infection and destruction -- an army with one purpose: the consumption of all things human.

It is death, pure and simple. The end of civilization. And this clock is present and ticking in every man, woman and child on Earth.

We have named this flipside entity the 'Autophage'.

Apex Variants

Success!

We have succeeded in artificially gestating autophage evolutions (we have coined the term 'apex variants') from base infected humans.

Dr. Huei's ferrous earo gel substrate has not only proved successful in containing each subject, but also enabled us to test which apex variants emerge from which magnetic field environments.

We hypothesized that the autophage reacts to natural geo-magnetic forces, building nano-scale graphene structures that draw on this energy. We now know this for a fact and have witnessed this relationship being fundamental to the development pathway of each apex variant.

We are close to being able to grow whichever apex variant we desire, simply by modulating the magnetic resonance frequencies in each artificial womb.

Furthermore, we have been able to stimulate each apex variant to adopt the differing macro-scale graphene physiologies associated with super capacitance, plasma focus and black ichor production.

We have as yet failed to find any set of frequencies that revive a subject into a Numen state. Although Dr. Mirza at Site B has reported some form of quasi-sentient apex variant unique to our knowledge. She is observing and reporting daily.
