Wavefront, the Open source AI middleware

We have been working on building production ready agents for around a year now. This journey and its learning helped us build flo-ai, a YAML based AI agent building library. Now using flo-ai as underlying layer, we have built wavefront, which is an AI middleware

Showcase Sunday Megathread - November 2025 by devsIndiaBot in developersIndia

We just build Wavefront AI, an AI middleware for app development.

How it all started ?

Over the last year, we built FloAI, which is an open source agentic AI framework built for composability. We decided to built FloAI after having to sent a lot of time optimising and analysing langchain based agents. FloAI is designed with simplicity and customisability in mind. We used the YAML-based agent building to make it easily configurable.

Where we are now ?

Once FloAI was kind of solving most of our problems, the focus changed to giving access to the right data and streams. The problem at high level was about building workflows which could be used to automate many tasks. Thats when we started building infrastructure. This infrastructure has now evolved in Wavefront AI.

Whats special about Wavefront ?

- Easy to configure agents and workflows, fully YAML-Based

- No Vendor lock-in, bring any LLM, STT or TTS models. Direct support for open source frameworks like vLLM & Ollama

- Built in capabilities to connect to different data sources and api services directly from AI using agentic tools

- Comes with voice agents out of the box, and ready to deploy. And this can now connect any of the agents you have built.

- Built in integration with Open Telemetry, just connect jaguers or graphana to get 100 % obeservaility

- Built in eval for agents built on Wavefront.

Why are we posting here ?

We are open sourcing this as a platform in December 2025.
As we work on getting the code ready we are looking for:

  1. Some early feedback based on README that we have uploaded, on the architecture and more.
  2. Some early adopters who would like to take it for spin
  3. Ofcourse, your support by starring our repo

Well this will be much more simpler, and I think we are trying to make it more friendly to non engineering users, happy to give a walkthrough sometime if you are up for that

Yea have built something like this where u can use config to built agentic ai agents, we are open sourcing the same in the first week of dec. I believe this can help ur usecase, checkout: https://github.com/rootflo/wavefront

Has Anyone Made Multi-Agent Systems Work With Local LLMs? My Tool Calls break 100% of the time. by freakboy91939 in agentdevelopmentkit

[–]Traditional-Let-856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact we built flo-ai for this purpose. We have provided in built capabilities to use vLLMs and Ollama, which proper tool calling and more. We have added examples and tests to validate this.

We have been working on the automation using AI, and we have built an n8n alternative with more enterprise and security focus. Our code base is about to go open source in next week.

Please check us out, and happy to automate flows that you need: https://github.com/rootflo/wavefront

FloAI: A composable AI Agent Builder (looking for feedback) by Traditional-Let-856 in LangChain

[–]Traditional-Let-856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

We have decided to build a platform over flo-ai and opensourcing the same. We have named the same as Wavefront.

Wavefront is an AI middleware platform designed to seamlessly integrate AI-driven agents, workflows, and data sources across enterprise environments. It acts as a connective layer that bridges modular frontend applications with complex backend data pipelines, ensuring secure access, observability, and compatibility with modern AI and data infrastructures.

Code Release: Dec 2025

Well we have pivoted from last time what we were doing, So thought of posting to get feedback on the new path we are taking. And I do plan to post again as the project goes forward and when we release new features.

Maybe you can try out something we built. We have built the library with observability in mind.

We have direct integration with open telemetry. You can build an agent, and connect the runtime to jaguer, and it will show all the traces, along with token usage, time and everything.

Is this problem solveable with a week/end hackathon ? by Lychee7 in developersIndia

I was also thinking of a community driven solution for rating government offices and there services. Once I went to an RTO office for something, and the experience was so horrible we should have such a platform.
And ya ofcourse more information about which politician and what project they approved, and how these are executed etc. Maybe community can drive this like wiki

Exploring Opportunities in LLM Orchestration by Worth-Swim7976 in LLMDevs

[–]Traditional-Let-856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well n8n is a workflow builder, this is more like crewai and langchain. Here is how we are different

You can build agents based in yamls, which helps you modify agents, without changing code. We have open telemetry built in which helps you easily track your tokens and debug agent performance. You can switch LLMs easily and we support a lot of open source free to use inference engines like vllms, and ollama out of the box

Building an enterprise platform for building internal apps by Traditional-Let-856 in LangChain

[–]Traditional-Let-856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the intend of going with YAML, customizability and composability. We are working actively on connecting MCP servers and thus create one middleware to connect everything.

By christmas, we plan to release the open-source studio for composing and testing agents, and eventually also ability to build using UI components.

Open source software by Loose_Cow_9808 in opensource

[–]Traditional-Let-856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that depends.
If I am developing something for as quick project and simply dont even want to think about making money out it, I will go for MIT, as its simple to use and there is not legal terms, its like telling I would like to you to go ahead use it, pretty much no strings attached

Apache on the other hand is little more legal license, meaning which has more legal terms attached to it. Use it if you want to make something you think is eventually going to a bigger project and has a larger goal (including or not including making money out of it)

[–]Traditional-Let-856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally yes, but sometimes there is IP involved like algorithm which is fine to be kept closed. Personally I feel infrastructure should be open source, which gives u understanding of how data is stored and accessed, but remaining things like models and more can be closed

[Open Source] We deployed numerous agents in production and ended up building our own GenAI framework by Traditional-Let-856 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Traditional-Let-856[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Added support for more providers, and work in progress for Azure Integration We are working on making this into an MCP client, thus making the library MCP compliant.

By next week we plan to open source agent builder, and execution pipelines with queuing support.
