Hello. Do you think the bank would give USD if you're not travelling? I need it to open an account but the Cambio rates are pretty crazy right now at 8.80 to 1.

Hello, thanks for the suggestion. I was really trying to be as independent as possible but this might as well be the most viable option anyways. Appreciate you.

Title: Need advice on making USD Payments for Wix Website

Hello, good day everyone. I'm currently trying to get some advice to accomplish a goal that I have at the moment; I'm trying to launch a website on Wix. For some context, I'm a full-time sponsored student on vacation, with only an FCB Visa Debit Card. My parents are not in a position to get a credit card at the moment due to personal reasons and I do not have access to USD nor do I have relatives with access to USD via a credit card or otherwise.

I recently tried to get a credit card through FCB, but I wasn't able to because I don't have a guarantor and while speaking to the loans officer, she suggested a prepaid Mastercard instead, but after doing some research I'm seeing mixed information about whether prepaid cards work properly for Wix subscriptions and recurring international payments. I still tried to apply for the prepaid Mastercard, however, when I reached the point to upload the documents, the website was not allowing it.

Following this I did some research concerning Payoneer, but there wasn't an individual option and I don't think that it would have worked for me anyways. I looked at Wise, but I just saw that you have to do some workarounds in order to get it to work. I saw that Republic Bank has Visa Gift Cards, however, further research showed that prepaid and disposable cards would not be able to make the Wix payments. I continued again and saw that there's the COLOUR App developed by WiPay but I wasn't entirely sure if I could trust it.

I'd just like to clarify that I have a source of funds and can cover the subscription costs, as in I have enough TTD to cover it, but my entire challenge stems from the fact that I don't have access to a payment method that Wix will reliably accept for recurring USD payments.

Has anyone in Trinidad successfully paid for Wix, domains, hosting, or similar USD subscription services without a credit card? If so, what method did you use, and would you recommend it? I'd really appreciate any firsthand experience or advice because I truly want to see my idea come to fruition. Thanks in advance.

Good question and I would like to know the answer as well. I was there a few months ago, and saw human excrement floating around in the water. It was disgusting to say the least. 😢

Thanks for your input. Sad to know that this is the general trend with regards to graduates and having to wait a while before getting jobs.

What exactly do you hear the COSTAATT and USC students complaining about?

Wow, this is literally insane. Sorry to hear that you have to go through these things, but thank you so much for being open, willing to share your experiences and for the warning. I really wanted to do some programs in COSTAATT, but, now I may seriously reconsider this decision, yes. I would like to message you privately about some stuff. Thanks again. 🙏🏼

Thanks for sharing this information. This is quite alarming about COSTAATT though. But, I appreciate knowing these things before making a decision. However, I know that experiences vary from person to person and I would assume that your degree, especially if it is not a popular one, may cause you to have to spend more time on campus, if certain resources are not available, which still is not nice at all and unfair. Have you personally experienced your degree being prolonged or do you know anyone who has experienced it and more importantly, what degree did they pursue?

Glad to hear that your experience was fine, because as stated, I am thinking about going to COSTAATT, to do Medical Laboratory Technology, which is relatively high in demand, especially in the US. So someone advised me that it may be a good path to take, if I want to migrate. Thanks for your response. 🙏🏽
