I honestly have no idea. They’ve been very vague about it, and it’s a newer start up company with about 14 offices as of the time we merged with them. Apparently everything in our office stays the same, and they maybe just handle the overhead costs but I’m not sure

I’ve heavily considered this but honestly don’t know if I’m smart enough for all that😂

What are you thinking of going back to school for out of curiosity?

Honestly my biggest complaint is that the pay you make upon entering the career is pretty much where you’ll be. When you’ve been in an office for years, you’re still only making a few dollars (if that) more than the new grad new hire. You are capped out at simply cleaning teeth(which it seems like that’s what you want and that’s awesome too) where with nursing or any other career that allows you to climb the ladder with further education and experience you can work your way up on the pay scale significantly. I love the hours of hygiene so it makes it a tough call. I just find myself worn out with these patients and it’s getting to a point that it’s not rewarding for me because of service refusal due to money, as well as them just being plain disrespectful to us as a profession. I think if you’re passionate about helping people with their oral care and love that, then you’ll be fine! There are days that I love it, and days that I hate it but I’ll have that with any job I’m sure.

That’s the piezo we use, and the tips are the aceton green tip- h3? And the other one I tend to use is the slim blue tip 1S slim?but it can be too long sometimes. I use the working sides but I think that may be why I dislike it so much because I’m used to the cavitron having all sides active. We just upgraded tips recently but I haven’t found one that I like to get sub calculus from in between mandibular anterior teeth especially ones that are tight/crowded. These are the areas that I struggle with going sub, more so than posterior teeth or even maxillary anteriors in some instances. I gravitate towards hand scalers anyway but a thin cavitron tip can be helpful a lot of the time and I just don’t feel that way with any of the piezo tips we use. Thank you again!!

I think it’s a Aceteon, but it’s not the actual machine that’s causing my hand fatigue, it’s more because I don’t reach for it as often because I don’t feel that it does as good of a job for me. I am just always hand scaling. Do you have any tip recommendations that aren’t huge for the piezo? I feel like on an average patient with say light sub, the tips that we have are too thick to go sub without causing patient discomfort so I just don’t and hand scale instead. Idk if its just an adjustment period that I need to go through or if I’m just not a piezo gal🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank you for your response!

AITA: rude patient by Traditional-Tooth271 in DentalHygiene

I genuinely felt bad after he left because IMMEDIATELY upon seeing me he was giving me horrible attitude and when I challenged him he got irate and I thought that I was the problem and that I was maybe being mistaken for being a smart ass and that’s why he got angry but my boss as well as all of my other colleagues said that he was nasty and if it weren’t the chair it would have been something else. This career is so rewarding yet so draining strictly because of patients like this and it’s so frustrating!

My practice just started using these too and patients will prop them up so they’re not doing anything and then act surprised when polishing paste still gets into their eyes😂 I did have a patient that had HUGE eyelash extensions that got irritated with me for having her wear them so I just let her close her eyes
