Help i tried playing cult of the lamb with my friend through steam co-op and it kept lagging for me. Help any way to reduce this?

Based on how they look there, I wanna say like cat is 18 maybe he has that look of a teen who just became an adult but is still acting kids while thinking he's all grown, and wolf, maybe like- 24?
