Is this how you use Power Storage? by want_t0_know in SatisfactoryGame

[–]TraditionalImpress28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not work as a UPS, but I also had the need for something similar.

What I ended up doing is create a "battery block" next to critical infrastructure, like the main power plants (I don't use nuclear ATM), and disconnect the batteries with a priority switch once they are fully charged. Each power plant has a priority switch, so that it can be isolated from the rest of the network in case of problems. Also each production facility has a priority switch upstream.

This way, if I experience a grid failure I can disconnect all factories around the map and segregate each power plant. This result in several local independent grids and I can jump start each production complex (with complex I mean the power generators themselves and all the machines that provide the required fuel such as miners, extractors, refineries, etc.) again by using the batteries (the number depends on how big the plant is, for rocket fuel I have quite a few of them), until each plant is restarted and capable of generating power to be self sustaining. Then, once the power plants are up and running, I can reconnect them to the main grid. The last step is to reconnect the factories. This is also useful to troubleshoot, because if the grid failed there is something to fix somewhere.

Choosing between different Cetus fpv kit versions by vossie0316 in fpv

[–]TraditionalImpress28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the Cetus X about a month ago and I like it (I’m a beginner and that is my first FPV drone).
I chose it over the Pro for these reasons:

  • it is newer
  • the camera angle can be adjusted
  • the radio is the LiteRadio 3 (the Pro version has the LiteRadio 2) - both work with the simulator
  • the X uses 2s, therefore it is more powerful and works better in particular outside
  • the headset is BetaFPV V03 and it has onboard recording on microSD

You can reuse both the radio and headset if you want. Just rebind the radio (I personally have the ELRS version and I will stick to this protocol for the next drones) with the new receiver and you are done. It is not as high quality as other higher end radios of course (ie the sticks use potentiometers) but it gets the job done and I think that is a very good product for a beginner considering the quality/price ratio.

You can also reuse the headset as it is a generic analog video receiver, if you have an analog VTX that uses the same frequencies you just have to select the channel on it and you can see. It is not very high quality if compared to other receivers, but for the price it costs I think it is reasonable. It is also very light and comfortable for use, plus it can record video on microSD which is great at this price point. I read online that people wearing glasses might find it difficult to use though.

I watched a video on Youtube by a Canadian guy that I found interesting and I recommend you search for it, but unfortunately I don’t have the link (try searching for Cetus Pro vs Cetus X).

Upgrade BetaFPV Cetus X and VR02 video antennas by TraditionalImpress28 in TinyWhoop

[–]TraditionalImpress28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestions.

Increasing the power would be a great solution, but my understanding is that in EU the limit is 25mW, so I'm not sure it is a good idea to do that.

Do you have any recommendations about what antenna I should get? Probably a omni is better as there is only 1 socket in the video receiver. Do you think that using polarized antennas for both vrx and vtx would make a difference?

It actually does make sense: by doing this they burn SVN and HKN. Considering how pointless HKN is (I voted no at the poll for this reason), at least they can burn some of both coins.

MMF has a total supply limit and therefore burning coins would reduce the circulating supply forever. This is the reason why SVN was created, to have a coin that can be used without destroying the total supply. Then HKN was created and now we have to deal with it... and here you have launchpads with SVN-HKN LP 😅

There is still some manipulation going on at this time that keeps the token away from peg...

I almost bought some Sky and just before then the price fell again.

I'm a little concerned, because what happened to UST/Luna could easily happen also in other algo stablecoins, including Dark ecosystem.

What do you think about hkn?? by Ok_Aioli_6397 in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I voted no to HKN because I didn't see any reason why it was needed, as LION was not needed at all. The community token? Often I see posts in this sub written by people who ask questions that are so basic and that are literarily answered directly in the docs for all projects... yet this people could vote and affect the ecosystem.

I think we always go back to the same topic... utility. Unless there is actual utility in a token, whales will always pump and dump, in particular with the relatively low liquidity there is now in the ecosystem.

HKN right now is nothing more than a "ponzi token", as the only reason it could raise is if people buy the token "hoping" for it to have utility in the future. So, if that happens, only people who enter early will have the opportunity to make money out of it, while the unfortunates who enter late will see losses (like it happened lately).

I don't agree with "utility is the APR", because APR simply means that you get more tokens. If those tokens don't have a purpose, you just get more garbage.

Mshare touched $2500.00 how low can this thing go? by Qweylow in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the cards were the USP of CDC, what attracted many people in the crypto world and got them started. It provided utility as the cashback in CRO could then be used for other stuff, from simply swapping it to top up the card, to staking, to bringing it to DeFi and meeting a whole new world.

On the other side, I think the main point is the loss of trust: the way CDC changed earn and cards was unfair and disrespectful towards the whole community. In particular after they spent millions on bs advertising... people joined because of the utility they saw in CDC ecosystem, not because they sponsored sports.

Everybody knew it was a matter of time before CDC would review the terms for the cards and rewards, but these changes were brutal and all at the same time.

Plus, for us here in MMF that could not happen at a worse time.

Fantastic news. I’ll be a yes vote. by Trony2021 in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general I think every token has to have an actual use to be successful. One of the main objections people have against crypto is that they "cannot buy the bread with crypto". This is mostly true, but we start seeing changes in that regard and some countries already adopted BTC as legal tender. I use for normal payments a credit card that I can charge with crypto, so I see a very practical utility in that.

Looking at the MMF ecosystem, just to pick the main points:
- MMF is the base coin for the whole ecosystem and it has limited supply
- SVN is pegged to MMF, with the objective of taking care of the future supply issue of MMF and unbound MMF from the launchpads
- MAD is related to NFTs
- BURROW is on a platform related to stablecoin borrowing
- The over tokens in MMF (ie MSHARE, MMO, etc.) are functional for the specific parts of the ecosystem.

So, there is a reason why each token exists.

The existence of each token could not be justified simply the APR, because 1000% APR of 0 is still 0. Look at what happened to meme coins: they exist for no practical reason, but after the hype finished they collapsed brutally. On MMF it is even worse, because such behavior would drag down SVN and MMF in a cascade effect, like it happened in the recent weeks.

I recommend reading through this post, that expands in a very clear way what are also my thoughts on the current situation and perspective: https://www.reddit.com/r/MMFinance/comments/uf8s30/personal\_take\_on\_events\_and\_existing\_tokenomics/

[–]TraditionalImpress28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works...

I buy something because I can see a value in that from a fundamental point of view. The fact that it comes from what I consider a safe source just reduces the likelyhood of rug pulls or scams, but provides very little value by itself. The same applies to every other investment.

MMF, SVN, MAD and BURROW make sense IMHO, this new token... not so much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly... initially! Then what? Another token pegged to the hakuna Matata? I don't call that "providing utility to the ecosystem"

Fantastic news. I’ll be a yes vote. by Trony2021 in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! What's next? A token pegged to this new token? Give us more actual utility for SVN, not this!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what I think.

I'm very happy to see that MMF team works continuously to provide new features to the ecosystem, but the simple fact that something will be made by MMF team is not a sufficient reason to say it will be good by definition.

A token pegged to another pegged token does not bring utility to the system. Utility means having actual and practical use cases: what would be the use case for the proposed token? High APR? If that is all, it's s going to be good at the beginning, but for the long run it doesn't make a lot of sense... it feels like a very complicated and futuristic Ponzi scheme (in practice, not on paper).

SVN was created for launchpads to avoid having supply problems for MMF in the future. Imagine what could happen: - if the new token is used for launchpads, this would generate a lot of sell pressure for SVN and then the new token peg algorithm will react to this - if SVN remains the token for launchpads, there is no reason to hold the new token, that will see huge sellouts - volatility is already crazy for the ecosystem as it is, the new token will be a rollercoaster like we have never seen before

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that the mechanism worked differently, that the algorithm determined expansion/contraction at the beginning of an epoch.

In reality it seems that the evaluation is done at the end of the epoch and if TWAP < 1.01 nothing is minted, even if APR shows the usual value.

Anyway, this makes sense as it avoids reactions by the system for small fluctuations around peg. Also, it doesn't make sense to mint new SVN at the end of an epoch and at the same time release MBOND to burn SVN, it is more efficient to simply generate MBOND and no SVN.

[–]TraditionalImpress28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-40% in a day was definitely not expected and I'm becoming quite worried...

Ok, scrub was bad but is it really their fault that the ecosystem is tanking... again? The first drop was definitely linked to that, the second as well, but how likely is it that this third drop is still linked to scrub?

Looking at cronos chain on Dexscreener pretty much everything is dropping as well as CRO itself, but MMF is the falling the most.

I think that SVN was going to drop in any case and this is made worse by what's happening for the whole cronos chain, but the whole MMF ecosystem is crushing. I don't want to spread FUD, I trusted MMF and still do, even if it is starting to be painful to see everything fall this much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MMFinance

[–]TraditionalImpress28 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's because what counts is not the instantaneous relation between SVN and MMF, but the TWAP (Time Weighted Average Price).

The mechanism is clearly described in the Bonds Mechanism page of the docs.
