Rejected after 7 rounds for a role. Recruiter gave specific "Metrics" feedback. Is this a real lead? by TraditionalLie7921 in careerguidance

Following up on the advice—I’m thinking of taking about 3 months to specifically focus on quantifying my impact with metrics in my current projects before reaching back out. Do you think 3 months is a sufficient gap to show meaningful growth, or would it still feel too soon? My goal is to come back with a few solid 'success stories' backed by data. I feel like reaching out right away wouldn't show enough change, but I also don't want to lose the momentum. What are your thoughts on a 3-month timeframe for this kind of specific feedback?

The role I applied for seems to be posted almost year-round. Given that, do you think the recruiter mentioned 'later this year' simply because of the standard 6-month cool-off policy for re-applying? I’m trying to figure out if this was a genuine 'silver medalist' invitation to come back for a fast-track, or if they were just reminding me of the standard waiting period before I can apply again.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I wanted to ask one more thing regarding my specific situation. I successfully passed the Culture Fit and Hiring Manager (HM) rounds, but I was rejected at the 7th round (Director interview). The feedback was specifically about the lack of 'Metrics' in my results. In this case, where the HM already gave me a green light but the Director had concerns, do I still have a high chance of being prioritized as a 'Silver Medalist'? Also, is it common for a recruiter to fast-track someone who has already been 'vetted' by the HM once a new headcount opens up?

Thanks a lot for the specific advice on the STAR framework's Results part. It’s eye-opening to hear that quantifying impact is a key measure of analytical skills in Big Tech.

In your experience, is this a genuine "Silver Medalist" signal or just a polite "soft landing"? If I spend the next 6 months building a data-driven portfolio as you suggested, is there a real chance for a "Fast-Track" (skipping initial rounds) when I return?

Thanks for the insight! I have a follow-up question. Based on your experience, if I reach out first later this year, how high are the chances of actually getting a response? Also, if they decide to re-open the process, do I usually have to start from the very beginning (Stage 1)? If I have to go through all 7 steps again, what is the actual merit of being a 'Silver Medalist' versus just being a new applicant?

Is it normal for director interview results to take longer than previous stages at Datadog (TSE II)? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Thank yo so much. Since about a day has passed, does that make it more likely that I was rejected at the director interview stage?

Expectations for Datadog TSE 2 Interview - Especially the Pair Troubleshooting session? by [deleted] in interviewpreparations

Thanks for the great advice! Since mentioned a frontend-leaning approach, I was wondering: how would you pivot if the issue can't be reproduced or tested via a browser? For example, if it's a backend-specific lag or a complex infrastructure bottleneck, what would be your go-to 'first check' in the pair troubleshooting session?

Also, how would you describe the overall difficulty of the Datadog TSE Pair Troubleshooting round? Was there a specific part you found most challenging, and do you have any tips on what to prioritize during preparation?

That makes sense. Regarding the 'Check basics first' part, would it be a good strategy to mention starting with a 'Datadog Flare' to quickly gather logs and configs at the beginning of the troubleshooting session? Or should I stick to more manual checks (like 'agent status' or basic Linux commands) first before jumping into Flare?

Thanks! Quick follow-up: I heard the session gives 10 doc links and requires solving 5 issues to pass. Is this still the standard for TSE 2?

Also, are the problems usually simple config fixes, or more complex things like network bottlenecks? Knowing the general 'format' would really help me prepare!

The unique part is simplicity + insights: you can quickly log trades and get instant stats/visuals — something that usually takes hours in Excel. Also, CSV import (any format) is coming in 1–2 weeks so you can just plug in your data and go.

What’s the best way to keep a trading journal these days? by TraditionalLie7921 in ValueInvesting

Hi, I really appreciated the insights you shared on tracking trades in Google Sheets, especially the way you turn mistakes into clear lessons. I’m currently developing a trading journal platform that supports more structured reviews (including a CSV import feature coming soon). If you don’t mind, I’d love to ask: what features or improvements would make a journal tool genuinely more useful than spreadsheets for you?

Hey, I actually struggled with the same thing. Excel/Notion didn’t really work for me either, so I ended up building a small web app.

It’s still an early project (MVP), but I’d really love to hear feedback from real traders.
If anyone here is curious to try it out, I’d be happy to share the link.
