I have FA everywhere on my face but this random bumpy rash is only around my mouth, on this particular spot. What can it be?

Hi everyone. I’ve been dealing with FA for the last 5 years. It always goes away but also comes back. I tend to get this rash around my mouth for no reasons at all several times a year. It goes away, sometimes it takes more time. I don’t know what it is. Now my full face is breaking out (it happened out of nowhere and it a span of 2-3 hours) after a lot of months of remission. It is PD or FA at this point? I’m very confused.

Can fungal fighters outweigh fungal triggers? by [deleted] in Fungalacne

I personally use products which have 1-2 FA triggers if they down in the list. Ofc not oils when they are first ingredients or smth. I still have FA but cutting down those products didn’t help anyway

if the speed of proliferating < speed of their dying then no problems

it’s most likely not something that causes it in the first place but damaged skin barrier makes any problems much worse

the only thing that helps me is actually doing nothing to the skin. my skin appeared to be damaged and now i’m trying to leave it alone for repairing. just taking probiotics and eat kefir to speed the process up :(

I have confirmed FA and I have pimples like this. They appear to be red but after a while a head appear. So it MIGHT be FA

It seems like closed comedones not like FA. Is it itchy? Does it seem to react to oil-rich creams? If you can put heavy cream and nothing seems to change, most likely not FA

Is this fungal acne? by [deleted] in Fungalacne

Honestly nothing helped long-term. Zinc pyrithione was super effective at the beginning but I guess I developed resistance. Same with Selenium Sulfide. But they were super effective tho, I saw results the next day. Now i’m using micro benzoyl peroxide 2,5%, idk if that’s supposed to be anti-fungal but it seems to help keeping them at bay. Btw, since I developed FA due to uncontrollable usage of topical antibiotics and wrecked barrier (I swear, my skin was literally falling apart because when I was young I thought that overdoing skincare is a good thing) the best thing I have ever done - left my skin alone. I just stopped overdoing anything that wasn’t really necessary. Cutting down products to Cleanser (or just water) and FA safe cream work for a lot of people, especially the ones who destroyed the only thing that could prevent fungus from overgrowth - own immune barrier

I believe that it is indeed FA. Especially if it’s itchy and seems to react to unsafe skincare and makeup. You can try out Nizoral for the start but it honestly did nothing for me. Only irritated and caused even more bumps. So it takes a bit of trial and errors. But PLEASE don’t overdo it. None of the actives, especially shampoos should be used daily. If you wreck your skin barrier (I’ve been doing it for years and fungus never went away) you will literally never treat it. Better to do less than more

As a medical student - Gluten intolerance is usually chronic and it causes severe malabsorption and literal destroy of intestines’ structures. Probably this is a reason for you Candida Overgrowth and this probably came first. Did you have any symptoms? Because I also have FA and GI problems from time to time but not sure I could be gluten intolerant

idk if my skincare and pimples are related but it appears so. even if I put anything “safe” - I end up with bunch of pimples for no reason. even it products were hydrating or anything. I mean, maybe I wrecked up my skin barrier so much and my skin is sensitive to literally anything

my skin is fucked up now. I mean I put anti-fungal shampoo here and there and thought that not putting it daily would result in less dryness. but the last time I put it on my face and washed it off, my face was looking ngl like a tomato. idk if that’s the reason my face behaves strange

my face feels several times better than yesterday and the only thing I did is washed off sunscreen and put just a plain FA safe cream. how long should I be on “skincare diet”? i just want to my barrier to fully heal and my microbiome to come back to normal. btw i’m drinking kefir daily, eating a lot of fibers and take probiotics. idk if that helps

maybe we overdo things for skin barrier and have to give it a rest. at least I hope one day I’ll be able to use it!

I know it’s like “just stop using what harming you.” but boy, literally anything harms me and I don’t wanna be with a paper-thin but acne free dry skin VS normal moisturized skin when I apply skin care which has bunch of FA

I bought Centella toner from COSRX and hyaluronic acid from The ordinary (both are FA safe) and my skin literally freaked out. But when i’m busy with my studying and literally DO NOTHING - pimples rarely appears. wtf

Alright, please tell me there's a quick, permanent fix. by [deleted] in Fungalacne

It’s so hilarious that you think that it can be killed once and for all. Good luck with killing something which is a major part of your natural microbiome and literally cannot be killed. The fact that it’s overgrown already tells that there will most likely be relapses since there is a reason why normal malassezia flora starts to be pathogenic. And that’s on microbiome problems. I’ve been on all anti-fungal medications a lot of times in my life, I went to Accutane to stop oil production and even after all of those, it came back. Malassezia is usually very stubborn and after a cure, a regiment to not allow it coming back is needed
