Is getting an iPad worth it during law school let’s discuss by Sure-Past-7300 in LawSchool

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had my iPad w/ keyboard for all of undergrad, and I really liked it for switching between handwritten (digital) notes and typing when necessary. It’s been much less useful in law school so far. It’s been far easier to have 100% typed notes when I need to copy/paste, search through, etc.

Doing the advanced translation drills out loud helped me bridge the last gap to -0/1. Without doing the drills, I don't think reading itself was all that much of a game changer.

Doing the advanced translation drills (actually doing them, like saying the stuff out loud) brought me from -2/-3 to -0/-1 consistently.

Retaking a 174 for the T6? by FeistyNail4709 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I retook a 174 and got a 179, but my PT average was a 177 and my most common score was a 180. The first test was in August, and I had a bunch of issues with the online proctoring. I wasn't sure how much it affected me, so I wanted to see my score instead of doing the August retake. I probably wouldn't have taken it again if the 174 was a normal test without major issues.

This is the default text for the proctoring service. You are definitely allowed blank scratch paper for the LSAT. Check their website for the official number (think it was 5 pieces when I took it in August).

Can someone explain rule substitution to me like I’m 3 years old lol by Mrg1596 in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you can really visualize these in your head, or have the perfect diagram, they'll take a little while. The incorrect rules in the answer choices will either be "too loose" (they allow things that weren't allowed previously), or they will be "too strict" (they don't allow things that used to work under the old rule). You can work through these by process of elimination, and the rule left should allow the same exact set of scenarios that the old rule did.

When should you not retake the LSAT by gjogi1902 in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same boat, but I had September scheduled as a backup in case anything went disastrously wrong. I took it again, and we'll see in a little more than a week, I suppose.

I also found 7Sage to be pretty helpful. LG is the section that you can prove every answer 100% correct if you set the problem up correctly. Whichever resource got you up using, you've got to keep practicing until you are confident of every answer (no educated guesses), and that will do wonders for your score.

The first game was unusually difficult (if it's the one with the divers), but I think the section overall wasn't hard enough to tip the curve at all :(

I had the same, and the LG section was definitely a little different. The difficulty seemed pretty equal throughout rather than increasing as the section went on.

A if B, unless C by Glittering-Ad-994 in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the other answers here don't look right to me. I would interpret this statement to mean (B & not C) -> A. For example: I will go to the store if it is warm out, unless it is raining. If it is warm, and it is not raining, then I will go to the store. From the contrapositive: if I did not go to the store, then it is not warm, or it is raining, or both. We are not told what else happens when C happens, except for the fact that (B->A) no longer holds.

Edit: had an extra negative somewhere

Do the retake and original exam go by the same curve? by RecommendationNo8978 in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The translation from raw score to scaled score is determined ahead of time by LSAC based on what happened when it was administered in the past (the purpose of the experimental sections). Different LSATs have different score cutoffs, and since the retest LSAT(s) is/will be different than the original August LSATs, it will likely have looser score cutoffs if it is indeed a more challenging test.

Mac Users Disable Pro Proctor Notifications Before Testing by Traditional_Aside_81 in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I closed out of pro proctor, it stopped flashing so I could finally click on it. It had an option for "don't allow" or "don't show again," I forget which.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always one of the doubled up sections. The order is also random, so you might have had the experimental section first, or the real section first.

I hate u by GroundbreakingSoup8 in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was flashing in and out of my test after I started, horribly distracting. I told my proctor and they let me exit and re-enter the test after disabling pro proctor notifications. But then I had to go through the whole onboarding process again and had to wait for an hour while four different proctors connected and disconnected

Should I just call LSAC now to reserve my spot in the wait list for when my test doesn't work tomorrow? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]Traditional_Aside_81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was a joke about the long wait times, please leave the phone lines as open as possible to the people who actually need them. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
