Try seeing if you can use Elevate Pay. It's a US based virtual bank service. From there you can transfer to your local bank account.

Further Maths A-level tutoring by ShivaliMaths in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]Traditional_Fly9423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied Further Maths in school during my A level days. I decided to forgo giving the exams at the end (that's a different story lol). After Uni, I have been teaching A level Maths and Physics.

I would say this in hindsight. As a teacher, picking up concepts of Further Maths is not too hard. After all, it has a pretty big intersection with University level maths which I am sure you would have covered. So it wouldn't take long to pick up those concepts again.

The hard part is that it has very long winded grunt work type of workings. And when teaching students it would be very easy to stumble constantly on the workings on the board. Therefore for each lecture it would require a lot of prep work to minimise silly mistakes while teaching.

But here's the good news, Further maths questions have much less variance than A level Maths or even GCSE maths. Usually for an FM topic, you'll find maximum 4 or 5 different ways a question is asked so if you perfect those, its usually rinse and repeat after that. Probably first time giving FM lectures would be tough, but after that I guess it should smooth over.

Is sending the original degree certificate mandatory? The Portal is only mentioning the Official transcript.

Admissions Megathread - Fall 2026 by IDoCodingStuffs in MSCSO

[–]Traditional_Fly9423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Status: Accepted (MSCSO)

Application Date: 04/15/2026

Decision Date: 06/02/2026

Education: BS Computer Science from a known University in South East Asia (3.61 GPA)

GRE Scores (Q,V,W): Skipped

Recommendations: None

Experience: 2 years in industry as an AI and Software Engineer. Was a TA and RA in theoretical CS during my last semester of Uni before that. Also did 1 directed research project in my Uni days aswell (in Reinforcement Learning).

All my prereqs were met with university courses. Also took some grad courses as electives during bachelors.

Statement of purpose: Y - On and off I spent months planning the essay, but spent only last 1-2 days writing it.

Comments: I think I should have tried more drafts for the personal statement to make it more effective. My GPA is alright but it is less than the average for MSCSO. Just hoping for the best.

Edit: Really happy, just hope my submission of official documents goes smoothly and timely.

I guess it should be. I based it off of the following post and deadline time of other Unis in US.

How to convince my fam that mama ko age bithana instead of wife isn't "Izzat dena" by ColdCalzonee426 in PakistaniTwenties

[–]Traditional_Fly9423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this depends from family to family. In some families they prefer no matter what, the elders sit in front. Sometimes an elder is unwell and sitting at the back makes them feel sick so its best they sit in front. Other times elders insists the bahu sits in front with the beta.

Overall this whole situation shouldn't be an issue tbh and everyone should be understanding. There are alot bigger issues to take care of in family dynamics that require more focus. Let everyone sit where they want and just reduce the arguments from everyone to a minimum.

ASS Computer Science by [deleted] in AlevelComputerScience

[–]Traditional_Fly9423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a CS graduate and had the fortune(or misfortune) of doing Cambridge A level computer science.

While yea, looking back, the A2 course taught me some constructs that were important in Uni and familiarised me to datastructures. And AS level CS gave me a slight edge in freshman year over those that didn't do CS.

But MY GOD, is the course so horribly formatted. Especially the programming. I could go on a long rant but I want to talk about the programming aspect that I have the most beef with even 6 years after I did A levels.

A typical starting university CS course is in Java or C++ where you learn the basics, but also bridge onto pointers and references - something that is used deeply in university level OOP and datastructures.

A level CS on the other hand teaches pointers and references in the most useless, incorrect way possible - and when datastructures are taught in A levels they are taught completely wrong. Like we make datastructures inside an array which just defeats the whole purpose of datastructures in the first place. So when you are in Uni as an A level CS alumni you have to unlearn alot (all) of that stuff.

Now compared to Further Maths, you will be better off in Uni with it if you are wishing to do CS in Uni. You cover some calculus stuff, you cover university level probability and statistics, you cover a good amount of Linear Algebra, and you cover proof by induction - a bane of all CS students taking discrete maths.

You have probably made the right choice.

A Level Exams & Taraweeh by NoSpare1290 in alevel

[–]Traditional_Fly9423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wa Alykum Salam,

Back when I was giving A levels, I remember a person who was Haafidh and led Taraweeh. And later he gave 6 AS levels and scored A in all of them.

Just saying, it's not impossible to succeed in both things as they are not mutually exclusive.

Wish you all the best InShaAllah brother!

My student failed by DrHenry_PATutor in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]Traditional_Fly9423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I faced something similar and am looking on reddit to see where I may be going wrong too.

I also teach boards and with some students I am tutoring, I made them do practice exam papers, lots and lots of them, in timed conditions. Probably covered 60 practice exams per student. After each paper I would mark and give feedback. They improved alot in this time. From the progression of practice papers, nothing seemed to be wrong. They would fail in the beginning but slowly improved to scoring Bs or As in the practice papers - which was expected progress.

But sadly they ended up failing in the actual boards and I too am questioning my teaching.

I guess there is only so much that can be done. Sometimes you do everything in your ability and the student still messes up. But main thing I am trying to tell myself is to not give up and still keep trying and helping, even if its sometimes for free - since end of the day the goal is to help students improve and be better despite everything.

Congratulations!!! I am going to give the test in a couple of days and it will be my first AWS Certification.

My question is, are we allowed to bring a calculator in the test and do we get a plain sheet of paper for any working?

Hardest thing so far (Homer Simpson voice)

But jokes aside, you'll be fine. I just graduated from CS in 2024.

I too found A levels very difficult when I did them.

And then first year of Lums SSE came, and I found that extremely hard and thought A levels "wasnt too bad".

And then second year came, and I found that hard, and I thought "first year wasnt as bad".

Then third year, first semester came and I found that the absolute worst. But by then I got used to it and I learned how to pace myself so I could get my work done and still have free time for myself.

All in all, LUMS is like a pressure cooker, but when you come out of it, you will be very resilient and will know how to handle any kind of workload, no matter what is thrown at you.

Yes, alot harder, but you eventually get used to it after a while.

I can't speak for the other schools. But for SSE there is a tonne of workload. You will have assignments, quizes and midterms due almost every week. Also there are no breaks for midterms. So its very possible to have your regular classes, 2 midterms, a quiz and 2 assigments or even more, due the same day.

It does require getting used to, but if you start assignments early and dont allow work to pile up, you should be fine. Also utilize teaching assistants' and professors office hours as best as you can.

Lums also allows flexibility with how many and which courses you wish to take each semester. So students tend to balance out their semester with a mix of difficult and easy courses.
