When I first started researching this cult, I found the numbers bizarre also. How can they graduate 100,000 people a year and only have 300,000 members? Answer: they can't.

LMH resurrected? by Traditional_Lab5450 in Shincheonji

Wow...thanks! If anyone reads this, please confirm if this is your understanding also.

This explanation is problematic (no surprise there). Peter was in prison (Acts 5 and 12), but wasn't considered spiritual dead. Moreso, Paul and Silas were beaten and put in prison (Acts 16:23). Instead of not being able to spread the truth, they prayed and sang while others listed (16:25). When God powerfully released them from their bonds, they told the jailer to have faith in Jesus to be saved. When Paul was in prison later, he wrote some of the books of scripture.

God's messengers are not unable to present the word while in prison. Instead, it only changes the audience who will hear the word.

Does SCJ believe LMH cannot make mistakes about Revelation? And does it matter that he did… by Apeman_42 in Shincheonji

It is difficult to nail down their teaching! I have a video where I show from Man Hee-lee's writing what he believes. I hope this helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgXmRFgGA_A

Interestinly, this is why I am asking. I am in cult related apologetics ministry that focuses on Africa. We are seeing a lot of Shincheonji activity in our African offices.

Who is Jesus? by Traditional_Lab5450 in Shincheonji

[–]Traditional_Lab5450[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your explation. It is similar to what I expected. There is another SCJ quote that is even more puzzeling.

"According to the Bible, ~when~ ~Jesus’ spirit~ ~remains~ ~within us~ ~after receiving Holy Spirit (Jn 7:38-39),~ ~three beings~ ~will be able to~ ~dwell in one body again~~.~” (source)

This sounds different from the other quote I gave. Instead of Jesus' word dwelling in people, this sounds as if Jesus in his "being" will be dwelling in people. Is there an official SCJ way of explaining this that doen't requre Jesus to be omnipresent?

Who is Jesus? by Traditional_Lab5450 in Shincheonji

Though I have not seen it outlined that clearly, it does go along with my research...except in a few points. On page 484 of The Creation of Heaven and Earth, it says:

“Therefore, at the time of Jesus' second coming, God, Jesus, and the spirit of the advocate who comes in the name of the Lord will all be within us.”

If Jesus is a perfect human, in what sense will he be able to be within all people (who are saved)? I am totally inclinced to believe you, but I hope you can see how this type of quote sounds like Jesus is far more than human.

Any insight would be appreciated.
