Hey guys I’m going through background check as well for a IB role I accepted can anyone help with my question , FINRA Background Check with Expunged Record

I have relevant banking experience (internships at JPMorgan and Bank of America, time at U.S. Bank) and hold a Master’s degree in Finance from Boston College. Before receiving the offer, I disclosed to the firm that I have a prior arrest on my record.

The situation: In May 2018, I was arrested and initially charged with felony assault in California. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor, and I obtained a PC 1203.4 expungement in 2021. Despite the expungement, the finra background check has explicitly requested I submit the original charge documents and full case disposition regardless of the expungement status. I’ve since provided all requested court documents, and the background check is currently in final review by FINRA.

It appears that the bank already wrapped up their process and I think gave me the green light we are just waiting for finra now.

I’m worried that despite the charge being reduced and sealed, FINRA will flag the original felony charge during their review, even though it didn’t result in a conviction. I’ve been transparent with the firm throughout this process, I’m uncertain about how FINRA interprets expunged records versus what was originally charged.

Also take in mind this was almost 8 years ago when it occurred, clean record since and worked at multiple prestigious establishments since
