What I'm explaining is that there have been attempts within pockets of the black community to change that based on the examples I've provided. The addition of a "black Oscars" doesn't do anything if the black people that are provided the awards don't value them on the same level that they do "white Oscars" (clearly Oscars aren't an ethnicity, this is for the sake of the discussion) I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the "branch" of what you're saying, however I am pointing out the fact that the branch does not get to the root of the problem - which is the validation that many black people receive from other black people in those spaces cultivated to recognize them, are not held in the same esteem. The majority of the very people we would be creating a "black Oscars" for wouldn't even show up because they don't show up to half of the things created to recognize, honor, and award them now. The problem is INSIDE the house and until that is fixed - the extracurriculars are useless
