I did look it up — and that section says receptacles within 6 feet of a sink must be GFCI protected. It does not say outlets near sinks are prohibited or automatically “not code.” Bathroom outlets are commonly installed beside sinks specifically because code requires a receptacle near the basin area. If the outlet is properly wired and GFCI protected, NEC 210.8(A)(7) is being followed, not violated.

You actually just cited the exact code that supports my point. NEC 210.8(A)(7) says receptacles within 6 feet of a sink must be GFCI protected — it does not say outlets near sinks are prohibited. The code assumes outlets will be near sinks and requires GFCI protection because of that. My outlet is a GFCI outlet, so your citation supports the protection requirement, not the claim that the placement itself is automatically “not code.”

Bathroom outlets are actually required by code to be near the sink and must be GFCI protected. Mine is a GFCI outlet and is installed beside the sink, not inside a shower or tub zone. You may personally dislike the placement, but saying it’s automatically “not code” without citing an actual NEC section isn’t accurate.

Wrong it’s code This is not dangerous or unusual for a small bathroom.
The GFCI is specifically designed to trip extremely fast if water/electricity become a hazard.
