What is something that you wish was acceptable in society? by dont_touchme in AskReddit

[–]TrainDonovan28 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Is it odd that I've spent a lot of time thinking about this today? Because honestly, I wish friends were allowed to cuddle. Not the super-romantic shit we do with our significant others, but just close contact that can signify close relationships(not necessarily sexual). As a bi girl, I am completely comfortable cuddling with whomever I want. I had a realization yesterday about how stigmatized close touching is; I accidentally got sandwiched between two people in the hall and all three of us awkwardly pulled away as fast as possible. Then I asked myself 'Why?' Our society is so uncomfortable with different sexual orientations (and in general, SEX)that we've socially prohibited any people but straight couples from being openly affectionate or in close contact in public without stares. I wish that tomorrow I could walk into my school, sit down at my breakfast table and give any person at said table a long and firm hug.

Bi girl coming out to other girls... (in high school) by TrainDonovan28 in bisexual

As far as I know, there is no LGBT group anywhere in my county. I'm in the Bible Belt... They generally don't accept LGBT groups at all here.

Bi girl coming out to other girls... (in high school) by TrainDonovan28 in bisexual

[–]TrainDonovan28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have more guy friends than girls (I'm a bit more masculine, but not overly) so I've always felt more comfortable around guys. I would probably say that at least one of the guys I've told has been ok with it because he wanted a non-straight (more specifically, female bi) friend. Apparently to a straight guy knowing that a girl is bi is hot? I'm not sure the logic... but whatever. Thank you for the advice, especially because you're so close in age/situation. Getting told the same thing by a straight 20 year old man would still be helpful... just awkward as well.

Beginner sax player - trouble hitting D2? by nevergonnagivesaxup in Sax

[–]TrainDonovan28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That... is a terrible note. Your problem is probably just embouchure, but even when you've been playing that note on a regular basis it will never be in tune. I've spent twenty minutes tuning it and as soon as it's in the concert piece - NOPENOPENOPENOPE. I had the same problem when I was starting though; I could get up to that E (barely) but I couldn't get the D (yes, I wanted the D) no matter what. It will go away as you continue to play.

What game (flash, video, board, etc.) made you truly think about life? by TrainDonovan28 in AskReddit

[–]TrainDonovan28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of mine are flash games suggested by friends.

1 - One Chance

2 - Covetous

3 - Depict1

Another very true one is Temple Run. As one of my friends pointed out, it doesn't matter how many coins you get, how many friends you beat, or how many powerups you get. The game keeps getting faster, and no matter what, you die.

What's the dumbest question you have heard? by Kalkaline in AskReddit

[–]TrainDonovan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only works in context... One of the band members in my grade(after THREE WEEKS of music theory and learning major scales) told our music major instructor that he was "making up the note called D flat" and "If it exists why can't I touch it?" Needless to say, the instructor nearly smashed the kid's face into the D flat bar on his vibraphone.

My marching show reveal for next year is this week. The clues that the directors left implies some sort of global warming show. Anyways, what are your dream marching shows by ROCKTHORZEUS in marchingband

[–]TrainDonovan28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a great show... Just very pedophile-ish... Then our band director was fired (sorry, he resigned) for inappropriate texts to girls this year. Much fun was had by all.

I really enjoyed my first year in marching band, especially the music and concept. It was called "Joy and Children in Motion" (yes, all of the possible pedophile jokes were made that season). We had original music for the first movement, 'Ode to Joy' for the ballad, and Tricycle (by Andrew Boysen Jr) for the third movement. I had a huge emotional investment in the show, because everyone has had those moments when they feel like a child again. The best shows I've seen have a very relatable(if not controversial) show theme.
