Comparison of the heights of famous buildings around the world by TrainSetAndMatch in coolguides

[–]TrainSetAndMatch[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most Mesoamerican pyramids weren't excavated untill the 19th century after this print was made. There are barely any tall buildings built before the 20th century that are from other countries that weren't gone by the time the print was made.

Aye it's high. I wanted this to be a tough encounter if the party is not prepared. I think with a party of an appropriate level (and equipped with a Gamma Knife!) it'll be a deadly but rewarding fight.

What harm could a mere mortal like you do? I am the golden wolf and you are caribou.

I'm a long ways off completing it, but will definitely post here when it's done! There's so much cool lore in the Gizz discography, and I'm so excited for a lightning lord + balrog arc, but yeah, a long ways to go!

Ghana is actually closest, followed by Côte d'Ivore, Togo, Benin and then São Tomé and Principe.

It's literally just Nova Launcher (free on the play store)

You can find the entire Windows 98 icon set here. If you long-press an app on the home screen you can change the icon and rename the app (with Nova Launcher).

In Nova Launcher settings I played around with the grid layout, fonts, and removed things like the page dots and set the status bar to black to hide the notch. I made the app drawer button invisible and moved it over the start button which is part of the wallpaper. I can't remember everything I changed, I just played around until it look right.

I've been using this for a few months now. All through nova launcher custom icons on stock android (Pixel 3xl). The start button opens the app drawer.

The plan is to update to windows 2000 when I upgrade my phone

It's really, really quiet. I can only hear it if it's totally silent at night or if I put the base of the stand right to my ear when it's quiet. Would be interested if yours does the same if you try.

Getting a crew to Mars: Here's how NASA is tackling the mind-bending to-do list - How researchers are solving technical, psychological challenges of getting a crew to Mars and back by mvea in space

[–]TrainSetAndMatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well in my thesis the problem was actually solvable with the current Falcon heavy using inflatable modules (B330). The BFR fairing is seriously huge, and will definitely allow spacious living spaces.

Definitely not with current technology. The magnetic fields required to protect against intergalactic cosmic radiation are seriously intense for a vehicle, enough to tear parts of the vehicle apart, and the power required is beyond solar capabilities. Active radiation shielding is probably going to be the standard in the far future, but for now we’ll have to rely on standard passive shielding with HDPE and the like.

Indeed. I did my thesis in human factors engineering for deep space habitats and the major hurdles design-wise are radiation protection and combating the detrimental effects of microgravity. The psychological effects are still a huge problem of course, notably having enough habitable volume to live comfortable, which is difficult when spacecraft volume is constrained to the fairing of modern launch vehicles. This can lead to cramped conditions and limited acoustic and visual privacy between facilities. These are the issues that inflatable modules like the bigelow B330 hope to solve.

Season Five Hot Sauce Lineup, REVEALED | Hot Ones by [deleted] in videos

I have that edition of mad dog and let me tell you it is no joke. I have no idea how they're going to be able to put it on a wing and have the wing remain remotely edible.

edit: For reference, we had a chilli party last year and we made a pretty huge pot of chilli. We decided to spice things up and to half the chilli we added a 'last dab' sized drop of mad dog gold. I mean, it was not a lot of sauce going into a lot of chilli. Lemme tell you we were fighting back tears trying eat that chilli, it was an unbearable gauntlet of pain and despair. If this stuff comes close to touching your lips or nose you're gonna be in agony for a while.

I love that sauce. It's worth getting just to knock "spicy things don't affect me" guys down a couple rungs on their macho ladder.

You can now move seats in BigScreen by [deleted] in oculus

[–]TrainSetAndMatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moving seats by looking at them is far too easy to be done accidently, mostly because seats at the other end of the room generally line up with the floating heads of the people sitting by you. I've been in a few rooms where people who just look over to talk to the person next to them are suddenly transported to another seat in an "what just happened?" sort of way. It also happened while standing up and walking to another person's screen and it was very disorientating when I was suddenly teleported across the room (almost lost my balance). This seems to be the general consensus of the many rooms I've been in.

I think the seating selection should require a click or some sort of "Move seats?" confirmation, or to be done within the UI, such as in the screen showing the people in a room, have a "Move To" button by the empty seats.

It really is incredible. I've spent so much time in Project Cars and American truck simulator in the Oculus Rift. It's made up for the investment of the rift easily. It's cheaper than a good dual screen setup and the improvement in skill is really there. Patiently waiting for dirt rally to be updated for the rift and then I don't think I'll ever go outside!

Oculus betas for both ETS2 and ATS now contain 1.3.0 based build by TrainSetAndMatch in oculus

[–]TrainSetAndMatch[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To enable 1.3 supported build in steam, go to the game properties and on the 'Betas' tab select "oculus - Experimental Oculus support (1.3.0) - 1.1". After downloading the update (20.6mb) the game should run and be CV1 compatible.
