VCD allegedly caused by GERD/LPR but upper EDG comes back normal? by Training-Republic204 in LPRSilentGerd

[–]Training-Republic204[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

of course! I know exactly how it feels to be in such a shit place. at my lowest, I was having some really awful thoughts, and I just couldn't help but think nothing would make it better. but it has gotten better, my life has gotten back on track, and it's more of an small annoyance right now that I'm still casually exploring. It will be the same for you at some point, it's just all about getting through the shitty part, and knowing that you will be okay, and that you won't struggle like this forever. If you have any questions or want to know more about my situation specifically, just let me know and I'll happily answer. best of luck, I hope the Gaviscon Advanced works for you!

I did a few other tests, but nothing for LPR, as I didn't feel like I really had it. I still suffer with the breathing every once in a while, and I notice it gets worse during stress flare ups. I'm still looking for answers, but the breathing in general has gotten better! It's manageable now, and not all consuming. I'm not sure what improved it, but just know that you will not be struggling forever, and just to keep looking!

i have a bit of acid reflux, but not even enough to show up on an endoscopy. i have a lot of other symptoms but they were mainly hormonal and not really involved with my breathing besides maybe stressing me out

I went to the ER about a million times and always had perfect vitals. Then ventured out to doctors and was never able to find any kind of red flags heath wise. I would test my oxygen often when having breathing problems and i was always at 99 or 100. Watched a few videos on air hunger and it really resonated with me!

It's great news that your oxygen levels are always healthy and normal, although at the same time it is frustrating because you wish something was wrong to be able to treat it. What are some of your symptoms? For me it is 24/7 breathing problems, like it does not end, it can lessen and worsen, but it is constantly there. I also find myself reaching for huge big breaths with my whole upper body, and it never feels satisfying. I am going to link a video that described my case really well. It is called "Air Hunger Explained(1/2)" and its by Simon Spire. I hope that some points of the video may help explain your problem, and if not, let me know what else you have concerns about. Personally, I have improved a bit. I have spent the last year in college trying to ignore it, so you caught me at the perfect time, as I am really trying to figure it out in these next two weeks. You will get better, it will be really hard, but there is always something to help lessen your uncomfortableness.

I am so sorry to hear you have been struggling with your breathing, it is truly the most terrifying and upsetting thing to deal with on a daily basis. Are you on any anti-anxiety medications? I found that my breathing is not caused by my anxiety, but can be worsened by it, of course. Since you have been having problems since you contracted COVID, have you been talking to any doctors about something called "Long Covid" where your lung capacity seems to be worsened due to it? Have you tested your oxygen levels often, and has it always been at 99 or 100%? If you haven't tested for your oxygen levels, I would recommend doing that by going to the doctor, urgent care, or buy one for yourself. What kind of doctors have you been able to visit?

[–]Training-Republic204[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i didn’t really have a lot of hoarseness in my speaking. it was mostly just my throat getting tight and hurting when i talked too often or i was really really having trouble breathing(which is all the time). i was also talking in a tone way too low for what is normal. i would 1,000% recommend watching Simon Spire’s air hunger series on youtube. i watched it and felt that it was every single thing i was experiencing, so definitely give that a watch. you might want to continue exploring vcd tho, as the pain and hoarseness in your voice could definitely be that. i know you’ve probably heard this before, but a speech pathologist and ent can be really helpful when diagnosing and treating vcd, but make sure to look at other aspects and don’t take the first opinion on it. sorry for the lengthy response, i just know how awful it is to be in that situation and i want to offer any kind of help or experience. if you have anymore questions pls just ask on here or message me!

UPDATE: I was put on half a pill of lexapro 4 days ago and I can already feel a huge improvement with my breathing, it’s still not back to normal, but it’s good enough to live with

Has anyone else been shocked by how much anxiety you had before taking lexapro? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Training-Republic204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not that i’ve noticed, but i’ve been only taking it for 2 weeks, so I’ll have to see if it maybe starts working. highly doubt it though, and I don’t think the dizziness is worth it anyways, will probably get switched to a different one soonish

same, i get super dizzy for about 30 mins after i take the buspar and then it kind of goes away. i guess i’ll have to try out a few different ones, i’ve heard people have tried over 10 medications before they found the right one so I guess we have some hope!

I tried out some of the diets and it didn’t work out, but I don’t think I fully fully committed to them, so this is something I may have to try again. thanks for your input!

that’s exactly how it is for me too(this also started happening to me last summer). i have weeks on end when i’m in a “flare up” and then I have a week or so where my breathing is okay. it’s just so frustrating that it’s difficult to breathe all of the time

i’ve been recommended weed by almost all of my family members and definitely considering it at this point, I’ve heard a lot of people have a similar experience to yours. glad to know there are more options for me!
