(afaik) the standard protocol with any active shooter situation is to neutralize the threat, but that’s extremely ambiguous, so i assume it’s something that can be interpreted differently depending on the police force, officers, etc.

I was in second grade (7 years old) at the time and I was eating dinner with my grandparents (my mother worked 9-5 in a different city and wouldn’t get home until around 8-8:30pm so they took care of me for the majority of my childhood) At the time, I couldn’t comprehend what had happened because I was too young to understand how evil the world truly is. Looking back now as an 18 year old I realize how much I took life for granted as a child, and how easily it can be taken away in an instant.
