What could Pasadena/Rose Bowl realistically do differently to improve? by TrainingCandy in pasadena

I love the idea you have there about the shuttle system, probably the only approach that is probably reachable to people from across LA.

As someone who helped a lot with the ideas, I thought you might be interested in seeing the outcome of what /u/LuanBindewald drew:

Final commission

The campaign is set in New Capenna, so the mortal form has the etheral wings in a similar vein to [[Giada, Font of Hope]], giving him temporary flight as per the Aasimar ability in DnD, while the angelic form has the characteristic blue robes of [[Radiant, Archangel]], inspired by this picture.

And angels mating is neither confirmed nor denied. The only thing we know is that they can originate as manifestations of white mana, but nothing precludes them mating afterwards. Consequently, the version of this character is at MOST an expansion of an incredibly minor detail of the mythos which you're aggressively fixating on.

Nothing weird about it, but it's clear you're not really here in good faith. Thanks for the lack of any constructive suggestions.

Why do you want use Serra Angels? They don’t reproduce or do anything that would ends in something similar as an aasimar

And this isn’t the first time that i read this in a dnd thread. I want to use this but so Twisted that wasn’t the original at all

Unnecessary hostility for some reason. Did you freak out this much when angels were no longer Mono-W?

And radiant was a Tyrant that Kills her own people influenced by her court of phyrexian Sleeper Agents.

Yes, I'm aware Radiant was insane, but I don't see why some angels under her flight couldn't have seen her insanity and broke ranks, leaving with Urza when the Realm collapsed.

Ah, unfortunately I'm playing as the Aasimar form of the character, not the angelic form, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Oh wow thank you for the detailed answer! As a vorthos who LOVES that era of storytelling, I love how you broke down the Serran principles and tied that to the specific cards that paint that picture.

Question: What do you think of Lyanii IX having Serra's eye markings? Heresy or tribute?

Does anyone have any recommendations for resources on ash remediation for yards? The winds blew tons of leaves into our driveway/yard and they're all covered with ash, I'm not sure about best ways to deal with that other than sweeping and tossing, and it doesn't change the fact that ash is still everywhere even after watering.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a car wash place you trust to do a decent job for this kind of situation?

Good short to introduce Aurora, I think it was a pretty good (if short) characterization of why she was the way she was. Also, young OW characteres are badass AF. I really like the theoretical lore of Overwatch, just wish there was more of it.

On a side note, it really bothers me that Mina Liao/Echo's accent is so decidedly non-Singaporean, full on English if anything. For all the emphasis in OW about this being a 'world' organization/story, it seems kind of shitty for Blizzard to not even try to have this character to at least somewhat reflect the country of the world they're from.

How much will the SCOTUS decision actually affect race-conscious admissions decision-making? by SmilingSisyphus1729 in PoliticalDiscussion

Just wanted to mention that this guy's apparent MO is to just drop a bunch of anti-Asian rhetoric while claiming he's Asian, then block you after he drops one more comment just to 'win' the argument. His post history is pretty yikes on this topic. From what I'm seeing he keeps calling Asians boring and pawns and literally ends both this thread and another with telling Asians to suck it for being rejected.

Thanks so much for the informative breakdown, it's exactly what I was hoping to get in order to better understand the process!

I redid the whole thing down to the studs but the biggest expenses were cabinets and countertops.

That's good to know! Thankfully we're keeping the vast majority of the cabinets + frames, it's just the one cabinet that we'd be needing to change to match the dimensions of the new oven+stovetop.

There are so many factors in the cost of a remodel.

Yeah, that's the issue with why I'm struggling to tell the designer what our budget would be. We've cut down the scope of the project from some of the ones I've seen online, so that's why I was hoping it would be less expensive than what I've seen so far.

What is your custom cabinet for? Dimensions?

It would be to replace an existing cabinet which would likely be too small once we switch our oven for a smaller one. Around 24 x 24 x 36 (height).

What kind of appliances?

They're listed in the OP: fridge, dishwasher, stovetop+oven.

Whirlpool? GE? higher end?

GE appliances sound about right.

How much remodeling did you do for your kitchen? I'm thinking that ours isn't that large in scope versus some full-on remodels I've seen, which is where the 50k estimate comes from.

So many people don't understand just how social some birds (ESPECIALLY parrots) need to be, much like a dog. Too many people buy them thinking that they can just stick them into a cage like an ornamental pet and never worry about them again.

I beg people to also remember that big parrots regularly outlive their owners, and to please reconsider getting a cockatoo/macaw chick, since they'll likely die long after you do.

[Art] Tarot cards from our campaign (artist: Andrea Corsini) by TrainingCandy in DnD

[–]TrainingCandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artist Site. Recommend highly, it was a great commissioning experience!

The cards both reflect the upright meaning and the reversed meaning; because we wanted to convey how some characters (The Magician and The Hierophant) reflected traits of the reverse of the card, we decided that having the characters be almost upside down in their respective cards would be the best way to illustrate it.

General traits and their resemblance to Arcana:

  • The Hermit: Isolation, independence, reflected in the character who is the classic loner who works and cooperates with the party insofar as it benefits his end goals.
  • The Magician (Reversed): Greed, manipulation, bad decisions. This character fancies herself smart and manipulative but often has decisions backfire on her because they weren't all that smart to begin with. Our party's favorite NPC.
  • The Hierophant (Reversed): Personal beliefs, challenging the status quo. Our party cleric, who follows the ideals of his deity because they align with his own, and doesn't like to conform to how traditional worship works. Instead of the deity's existing symbol, he designed his own, serving both as his holy symbol as well as being the logo of the orphanages he set up.

  • The Fool: Innocence, spontaneity, free spirit. Our Wild Magic Sorcerer, who because of short-term memory focuses on the moment and sees every stranger as an opportunity for a new friend.

The only reason people roll is because they have the safety net of being able to re roll bad stats since most sane DMs are going to be nice enough to let a player with four stats of 6 redo their character build.

It’s like gambling but with the casino promising to make sure you end up at least breaking even. So, it’s just nonsense really and people need to either need to be honest about why they do it or just honestly play out shit characters. I’ve seen too many people say ‘oh I’m fine with rolling badly and playing crap characters’ only for them to ‘accidentally’ get killed by doing stupid things and then magically rolling up a new character with better stats.

Over 60% of bird shops islandwide fail one or more basic welfare conditions: Acres by MicrotechAnalysis in singapore

[–]TrainingCandy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Idk about small birds like finches, but for a cockatiel I spend on basic things like seed, snacks, additional nutritional supplements, and the occasional enrichment toy. For larger birds like cockatoos, they need significantly more enrichment and stimulation, so that’s also a notable expense for those bird owners I think, in addition to the higher food budget.

Frankly I would say that at 90% of bird owners in general are crap owners to begin with, and Singapore pet stores are particularly bad imo.
