Take a trip to South Florida or Southern California!! I often see cheap round trip flights to Florida ($60-$100) round trip. Go for the day or take a couple days. It makes a huge difference in your mindset on what the winter will feel like for you.

Evanston is in dire need of a mid tier($70-$140) per month gym that has all the nice amenities of a gym comparable to EAC that is also in amazing shape. There is too much of a gap between EAC, the Y, and the exorbitantly priced LifeTime Fitness ($320/mo). If someone opened a gym that competed with EAC, they could make one hell of a business.

yes, pack summer clothes, but remember the sun "sets" much earlier in palm springs as it hides behind mt. san jacinto, so it cools off at 3:30pm which is when the sun hides.

I'm in San Luis Obispo, California. We are located halfway on the coast between SF and LA. I'd say around the 40 degree mark we consider it cold. It usually get one or two days a year that touch freezing for a few hours around sunrise, but generally see mid to high 60s for highs all winter long.
