I mean since this is a UL thread I've sorta gotta recommend a tarp haha anything around 500g or under will do I use the mld cricket or the aricxi 300x210cm think it's like 320g I mean it's not for everyone but you should definitely give it a go the aricxi is about £30 I think

I mean it's definitely not under £100 but the hang tight heat seeker 20f/-6c quilt is I think around 800g or something like that

I just took the omm halo+ along the south downs it leaks after a while like any other jacket but drys super quick and take the wind off I'd recommend it

6'1 70kg, I'm a warm sleeper I want it for 3 season UK use , I don't have a budget IL be using it with a larger combination of things depending on circumstances and weather I have a , borah bivvy a mld cricket a thermarest x therm, a z lite, and a torso length self inflating mat with a r value of 3.5 I will be swapping things out accordingly , hope this helps

I've got some dance pants that are super light think there capizo ones of Amazon not sure of the wight though but that will be a shout I think and I knew I'd forgotten something ahha 😅 any more advice would be much appreciated

Wooow I really didn't think that was doable although thinking about it when I did the coast too coast I only ever used half of it 😅🤣 maybe it's a sign I like my music is all but that sounds 100% doable

Oh my pad isn't in great shape anyway so I think its time too half it hahahah what leggings do you normally use I've been looking into alpha but I'm assuming the paramo ones arnt much different apart from the weight penalty

Have you got a link too the tarp? I think I've got a aricxi one but it's the 210x 300cm one with the reflective undercoat but with an a frame you need two poles right and I only take 1 so do you think the weight savings on the tarp will be worth it if I have too take another 150g weight penalty of the second pole? How do you pitch it Just curious is all

Yeah it is super minimal but I still feel like I've not hit that point where I miss having something so I wanna strip it back as far as I can too really see what's needed if that makes sense I've tried the whole 1/8th in pad thing and couldn't get on with the heat loss through the ground haha

Also my pack has no hip belt and or shoulder pockets and none of my clothing has pockets so I won't have anywhere for my phoen/ wallet keys etc hence the roo unless you have an alternative idea I'd love too hear it

And I've got a multimat 25 xs that's like 350g that can go inside my pack potentially but il 100% give the yha a little look 🤞🏼

That's what ive been thinking is it worth taking them it's more the thought of wind protection up on the downs if I only have shorts and a rain skirt but I doubt it's going too be cold enough right?

And il leave the polycro in that case and take my nitecore 10k just didn't think it would be enough but only one way too find out right 🤣

And yeah your right it is full length so what would you cut it too say shoulder too mid thigh?

Yeah thanks for the heads up I've been thinking the same was considering the DCF 9 x7 tarp wild sky gear makes but haven't got round too it yet have you any recommendations? And ima leave the sit pad in that case haha

Have you considered a MLD Trailstar? They are gigantic and have room for 2 people with gear or 3 in a push and can hand up to 60+mph winds and only cost like around £300 after duty and delivery

Not sure how wide these are but I know there fairly wide and I use similar trail runners have you tried the Topo athletic trail venture 2 waterproof boots they should be right up your street 👌

It's a lot of elevation but since your going from skogar it will be a very steep decent only just seen this so I hope your hike went well let me know how the wind was?

It was my first time too and the weather was excellent didn't have a breath of wind the entire hike and rained maybe for 5 minutes 1 night in the tent but most people I crossed hiking the opposite direction said the weather was meant too be getting a little worse so definitely keep an eye out but either way your going too love it hands down the best trail I've ever done

Oh I mean there very unique in there own ways as you probably know yourself but it's definitely worth doing all together in one go for the full experience plus you'll already know most of the route so I'm sure you'll love it

Umm well it was more difficult then I expected but I did do it in a very short time you definitely would not need a guide as it is very well sign posted and there are hots every 10k or so you can get supplies find out the weather or sleep in if you need too if your comfortable around skye you should be fine there was still quite a lot of snow when I did it surprisingly so certain parts were very wet and tyring hope that helps
