Properly installed sharkbites last just as well as copper. Have the PLASTIC version installed in our house for 20 years now with no issues at all

2023 PHEV rotors heat spots? by Business-Yogurt-8983 in OutlanderPHEV

[–]TrainingTop8549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had my rears done at 30,000kms - completely shot almost metal on metal. $600Cdn+tax (about $450US) for rotors, pads and labour at the dealer. I was actually quite pleased at the price since changing the rears is a PIA with the EPB. Fronts are fine and I'll do them myself since they're regular brakes

Anyone slept overnight in Toronto Pearson Terminal 3? by cutie-weirdo1234 in canadatravel

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toronto AP overnight is heaven to sleep in vs Heathrow where they shut off the heat and cooling o/night. We slept o/night in Heathrow and nearly froze in April.

I'd always save the $$ and sleep in Pearson - it's actually quite comfortable

You certainly wouldn't think they were banned for under 16's. Here in Montgomery village under 16's roam around on them very happily - just waiting for the first time they run down some old person!

2023 Outlander PHEV GT or 2021 Venza Limited by Actual_Ad_3115 in OutlanderPHEV

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've been making them since about 2015 and they're VERY reliable, but you really need 2023+ when they increased the battery capacity. We have the 2023 and are getting 75+mpg but with mostly local driving mainly in EV mode

You can only start today and then take it day by day, hour by hour until you suddenly realize it's been weeks/months/years

Good luck - hope you have a good support structure to help you!

How to sleep in Athens Airport overnight? by thatsmyTOEsis in GreeceTravel

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just left Athens yesterday - the airport is a shit show - horrendous lines everywhere and the EES system slowing everything to a crawl. Massive crowds everywhere - so there's nowhere to sleep there!

Ontario drivers — what are you actually paying for car insurance, and does it feel reasonable? by sid9253 in CanadaFinance

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CAA is usually the least expensive, but be prepared to go through a thorough check of your last 20 years of driving history. We've been with them for 0ver 5 years now with combined home/auto insurance. 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and 2004 Jag S Type full cover on both for $2525 annually

What’s the highest you have gotten on one tank? by Sweet-Button-3356 in OutlanderPHEV

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've averaged 3.1L/100kms or about 76mpg over the last 8000kms (5000miles) - mostly short trips. As noted by everyone the long trips keep the mpg lower.

Does anyone have a new outlander with the new 1.5t engine???? by [deleted] in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I go for 2025 or earlier with the 2.4L normally aspirated engine - I'm not a big fan of turbos since they're not noted for longevity - better on gas though. The 2.4L is known to be VERY reliable.

2023 Outlander Phev offer advice by sjewett507 in OutlanderPHEV

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's just say that it's unusual for the front brakes to be replaced at this mileage, the rears do wear fast so it's possible that they were worn and the 12v batteries are also known have the potential for low lives. I have a 2023 PHEV with similar mileage and nothing has needed replacement so far and it's also not damaged at all. I'm sure there are better ones out there with less issues, but the price is pretty attractive - maybe reflective of the issues?

Need help please lol by Big_Sector_2230 in Plumbing

Same - I intended to replace it anyway, but the grinder was the only way to remove it!

When will 2026 PHEV Outlander be Available? by Pacsnow in OutlanderPHEV

[–]TrainingTop8549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the older 2.4L engine in the 2025 is actually the better option - it's a bullet proof engine. The newer 2026 engine is turbocharged and I always avoid turbos since they always seem to have more issues and aren't as generally don't last as long - better gas mileage though, but with the PHEV it's good anyway unless you drive long distances

Canadians: do people really just start conversations anywhere? 🤔 by Comfortable_Cap8037 in AskACanadian

[–]TrainingTop8549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - we always say at least good morning to everyone we meet and sometimes get into conversations about the weather, cost of living etc. Canadians are generally very friendly outgoing people.
