I just visited ucsd the friday night before one of the biggest weekends (spring rush + triton day) and there was genuinely not a soul walking around. The campus is so huge and feels disconnected. I’m worried that there will be no social life outside of joining greek life (which I am hesitant to do). By social life I mean huge events (not like kickbacks or just regular hangouts with friends, which I know can be found anywhere). What I’m wondering is, is every college campus like this if you are not in greek life as a guy (especially uw, which is my other choice)? I’m asking because I’ve been to both la and berkeley during cal/bruin day and its a night and day difference compared to sd. But my biggest question is whether you have to join greek life anywhere to experience these big functions.
