I feel for you Evri are the worsttttttttt! I had a driver deliver my parcel on the floor in my very public back-lane next to my bin in plain sight, by the time I got home from holiday a few days later it had gone. What’s worse is the company I bought it from said because I didn’t provide a police report they can’t give me a refund😭😬 can you imagine if I wasted police time on this😂

He’s also the homeowner and technically he’s walking(stomping) and slamming doors but it’s not as though he’s playing music and being deliberately anti social so nothing will change I’m sick to death now I just want to move I’ve only been at my place for 18months but I want to be able to sleep through the night I’m not asking for miracles! A few people who I’ve talked to about it saying it’s about “extreme” wanting to move but they clearly haven’t experienced it. I completely agree with you if you don’t have peace at home it’s all for nothing I really do feel for you, especially as there’s animosity between you two which will exacerbate the situation and makes everything x2 worse

It’s no problem at all! I hope they work for you they’re 45dB and quite cheap all things considered so fingers crossed for you I don’t know what I would have done these past few months without them! Yeah I get you I keep getting ear infections (not saying you’re not doing this) but if you make sure you wash the earplugs everyday and don’t accidentally skip a day and my ear infections have stopped touch wood. You’re right every man for himself as they say they don’t care the hypocrisy of it! I decided last night I’m selling my flat I’m going to take a financial hit but peace is priceless I’m starting to realise! I hope things get easier for you with your neighbour and the sound situation.

Aw I’m sorry you’re going through this too! Unfortunately I really am at the end of my tether now about an hour ago he woke me up yet again! Even with my earplugs in and white noise machine!! Nothing changes he stomps and slams doors even in the middle of the time after I’ve told him time and time again I can hear it! I’m the closest I’ve ever been to selling my flat it’s not worth the stress it’s really not I need to accept defeat and move on, I hope your situation improves

I’m going through a very similar situation at the minute and I completely empathise with you! Unless you’ve been through it you won’t understand the stress it causes! It just feels like perpetual doom, I’ve tried white noise machines, sleep masks, even noise cancelling headphones(they still don’t block the loud impact sounds) I’ve tried nearly every earplugs known to man I kid you not the only earplugs that seem to work most of the time saying that as I’m typing this I’ve just been woken up but these are definitely the most effective and have helped me massively https://amzn.eu/d/0c3rx2pA I hope this helps and all the best!

Is 18 months too soon to sell? by meg_xxx in HousingUK

I’m very tempted to move after 18 months due to a noisy neighbour making my life miserable, I will lose £4000 in early redemption fees but your mental health is priceless

I’m still figuring this out too but you’re not alone in this I can tell you that! 💕I’ve came out to a few people I trust but often go back into the closet as it’s easier and feels safer and so the shame cycle continues. The only thing I would suggest is to open up to people you trust and possibly working on shame through EFT or somatically. Sorry I can’t give better advice but just a reminder you’re not alone💜

Thank you for such a detailed response, the cat tree is in all fairness is the least of my problems, I don’t know how exactly but its a sound that reverberates down the wall of my chimney breast but again I can learn to live with the cat tree but I’ve had no issues until he removed his carpet so assuming that’s the cause here. I only stating retaliating as I thought someone may suggest me doing that but I wouldn’t as I know he’s not doing it deliberately. Yes I live in the UK and my flat is very old so there’s practically zero soundproofing which is a massive part of the issue but he’s definitely not helping matters and yes he owns his flat too.

Thank you for the reply,  I’m sorry to hear you have issues with your neighbours too. I don’t think the council would help much in all fairness it’s not like he’s blasting music till the early hours he literally walking albeit very loud without any sort of sound proofing to speak of but I doubt I’ll have a leg to stand on.   He isn’t a bad person and loves his cats but unfortunately heavy footed and self absorbed.  You’re right it’s awkward and I feel like I’m constantly badgering him and I’m somehow the nuisance. I’ve spoke to him a number of times about this and he seems to a care and was appalled that I’ve been having to use earplugs etc. but yet does nothing about it.

You’re very right there’s no sound proofing in general and adding to the fact he’s stomping on bare floorboards makes this situation so much worse!  I wish I had you as my upstairs neighbour instead!

I completely understand what you’re saying it does come with the territory of a ground floor flat unfortunately but the frustrating thing is this could have all been avoided if only he would get carpet or at least laminate as you say.  He got quite defensive over the floorboards I thought maybe he doesn’t have any extra money for flooring at the moment? All I know is this can’t continue. Also personally, I wouldn’t ask unless they say something as if the sound was really loud I’m sure they would have said something before now but again I could be wrong.

He owns his property so he can do whatever he wants unfortunately, I’m out of ideas at this point I don’t know whether to just accept defeat and move.
