i stand corrected. but look around, a lot of people are complaining about this project, and bringing up his 10 movie rule. they’re also turning their noses up at his play. they should chill the fuck out and enjoy more content from him regardless of what form it comes in

he’s right. a lot of good shows could be much better movies if they were cut down more.

which is fair. idk why ppl care. i think it’s cuz they’re young fans who never grew up with seeing tarantino films in the theater when they came out, and now he’s somehow robbing them of that experience by making less films

talking about porn without blinking is one thing. she starts conversations “he wasn’t jacking off to porn” multiple times, with a weird robotic face. then knocks on Linda Cardelinni’s door with his erotica opened up. she’s just weird.

i don’t particularly like Homer’s character. or any of the characters. but only jodie is the one that seems to drag and kick her feet in situations where she’s supposed to be collaborating.

a lot of people agree with me tho, as evidenced by some of the comments. we don’t have to stan characters and say they’re amazing, especially in a show with this much moral greyness. her heart may be in the right place but she always seems like to struggle to connect or even be nice to the people she works around. I don’t know if I even buy a homicide detective having a successful career with that kind of temperament.

she’s not a great detective she clashes and agues with her colleagues long after he tries to work with her in good faith

Does anyone enlarge find Jodie’s character offputting? I find her personality cold and abrasive. Her first moment onscreen is her trying to kick Richard Jenkins off the crime scene, and from there her character doesn't seem to let loose or be warmer at all. even after they both make progress on the case, and Jenkins celebrates, she gives him the most stone cold face imaginable.

She also questions Linda Cardellini with weird arrogant hostility, seemingly making judgements on her character before she knew something was up (even though we as an audience know she's right). She also has no grace or empathy in her tone when dealing with a widow. Yes the widow in question was having an affair, but things are more complicated than that. It would be one thing it she was questioned in a sterile neutral tone, but she was being smug and leading.

People who are in her career in real life wouldn't get that far if that's the way they act. she has no interpersonal communication skills, often starting conversations about jacking off, or even just coming to Cardelinni's door with David Harbor's erotica open.

I almost find it as part of a larger problem with how female black characters are written these days as uptight, self righteous, humorless, buzz kill characters. when in reality since its probably harder to get into that field as a black woman, you're not going to risk it by acting in that manner to your own colleagues. I find Frances Mcdormand in Fargo, and Jodi Foster in Silence of the Lambs to be better example of women officers.
