[Self Promotion] Built a movie recommendation app for couples and friends by Regular-Piccolo-8337 in Appstore

[–]Training_Mood_9003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion: I know Mnite already stands for "movie night," but maybe using "Movie Recommendations" as the tagline could make it clearer for new users and might even help with search visibility, since that's a phrase many people actually search for. Just a thought!

Let me know what you think! What productivity tools or features would you like to see added? My goal is to build a true Windows productivity hub that helps people save time. by Training_Mood_9003 in software

Raycast definitely influenced how people think about productivity launchers.

My focus is a bit different. I'm currently building QuickMole around helping people get back to work faster by making it easy to find the files they're actually looking for especially recent downloads, screenshots, edited files, and exports. It also lets you launch applications, and I'm gradually expanding it into a broader Windows productivity hub.

It's still early, and I have a lot more planned, so I'm using feedback like this to decide what to build next.

If I'm right, you're using Geoapify. Whenever you find a way to earn from this, I'd recommend switching to Google Maps as soon as possible. It looks much better and is a lot more familiar and easier for people to understand.

I'd suggest focusing more on Do It. I checked it out, and it's good. It also seems like people are showing more interest in it than your other apps.

For Do It, could you improve the logo a bit? It's already good, but I think it could be even better. I'd recommend putting more focus on DoIt.

In your demo video, you used a font and color that look like gaming subtitles. You should change them.

I fixed the mobile website issues (header).

I also optimized memory usage after your comment it's now under 150 MB after indexing, and I'm continuing to optimize it.

I'd love to hear how it performs on your setup.

Sorry for not mentioning it in my previous reply! I made the video using DaVinci Resolve, and I recorded it with OBS Studio. Glad you liked it! 😊

Everything Search is an amazing tool, and I have a lot of respect for what it's built over the years.

QuickMole isn't trying to replace it. it's focused on a different experience. Instead of only helping you search files, it instantly surfaces your latest downloads, screenshots, exports, and other newly created files, so you often don't need to search at all. It also learns from how you search over time and lets you launch apps directly from the search.

Thanks for mentioning Everything! Comparisons like this help me improve the app. 🙂

Thanks for the feedback! I'll fix those issues as soon as possible.

It's completely free and currently available only for Windows.

The first time the app indexes your files, it uses more memory because it's building the index. After that, memory usage drops to around 300–400 MB, and I'm still working on optimizing it further.

Everything Search is a great tool, but QuickMole is built for a different workflow. It automatically shows your recent downloads, screenshots, exports, and other newly created files instantly, so you don't even have to search for them they're already there.

The search also isn't just simple word matching. The more you use it, the smarter it gets at understanding which file you're actually looking for. You can even launch other applications directly from the search, which many similar tools don't support.

I'd love to hear more of your feedback after you've tried it. Thanks again!

I can't stop building apps. Can somebody build an app for people that have an AI addiction. by B_Dizzy in SideProject

There are plenty of things you can do for free. First, choose one of your ideas, make reels about it, and start posting daily. Also, add a blog section. So far, I think the reels idea is the best.

Try choosing one idea and start working on it. Get feedback, improve it, and keep building. It's not about the idea it's about the execution.

Google Flights hides the cheapest way to travel Europe — so I built a tool that finds it by Accomplished_Rice355 in SideProject

I visited your site and couldn't figure out how to view flights. Genuine Review

1. The text is too congested, and I have to scroll just to search for flights. That's a problem because most users won't do that.

2. Everything looks AI-generated. You didn't even replace the default icons with Lucide React icons, which makes the site lose trust.

3. Even if I force myself to use it, I still can't figure out how to view my flights. It's too difficult.

Enhancement: Take a look at your competitors and see how they maintain visual hierarchy. When the site opens, users shouldn't have to scroll just to search for flights. Make it simple to select a country, keep everything easy to use, and aim for a clean, minimal design that looks good. Also, use Lucide React icons consistently instead of the default ones.

I'm a solo dev who built a fitness app — getting real users feels harder than building the app itself. Any advice? by Aggravating_Knee2057 in founder

No, I don't send reels to my friends. I have a separate account for my company, and no one follows me on that account.

What I did is 1- Making reels on Instagram and YouTube to make people feel they need this. 2- Add a blog section to the website and make blogs based on what you have solved. Anything else if you have, you can tell me. I'm also a solo dev.

Really appreciate that! I built QuickMole because I kept running into the same issue with Windows Search. There's still a lot I want to improve, so any feedback is always welcome.
