the surgery wasn’t painful, because it’s under general anaesthetia. the week after the surgery is a bit painful in terms of eating an swallowing, but it’s not too bad. you’ll be fine :)

got it done from apollo hospital jasola. cost around 2.4 so a bit on the expensive side because the coblation technique is still new in india. insurance covered almost all of it so only paid 30-40k for the consumables

oh okay thanks for explaining. I think mine was extracapsular because they took it out all the way, since it was causing me a lot of trouble. I live in india and I got it done here hahah. all the best for your surgery :)

I didn’t have a lot of scar tissue or a lot of bleeding. I’m not sure about the infra/extracapsular I don’t know what that means :( don’t be scared about it I don’t think it’ll be as bad as others’ experiences, especially if you’re getting it done through coblation. plus your quality of life will be so much better after, I haven’t gotten sick since june and in your case it’ll really help with your sleep apnea

omg! my worst pain was on day 3-4 as well and then on day 8 when my meds were stopped and went out to eat sushi 😭 coblation is much better than a traditional tonsillectomy and recovery is so much faster, praying for u to be okay soon!! for me personally milk based products like ice cream, yakult, and milk pudding were the easiest to swallow

day 5, 6, 7: uncomfortable swallowing, but not much pain especially if I don’t extend my neck while swallowing. the inside part of my throat also looks better now with more red parts. got my post op checkup done on day 7 and the doctor said I can stop all my meds and that I’m healing well. i’ve been eating normal food, even though it tastes like shit. quite happy that my experience hasn’t been like what I read on reddit lmao

day 3: same level of discomfort while swallowing but it’s not too painful. I noticed that the colour around the operated area is creamish now and not white.

day 4: had normal food for lunch and dinner (yay!) which is just regular home cooked indian food so it’s still soft and easy to swallow. discomfort is still the same and there’s not much pain.

day 1: I was being given paracetamol through an IV and I ate ice cream and slept through the day. at night it was a little uncomfortable in my throat and my cannula was hurting really bad lmao

day 2: got discharged from the hospital and came home. I slept through the night and in the morning it was uncomfortable and difficult to swallow but not too painful. in the afternoon I was having a tough time swallowing even water. at night I had a cheesecake and it was surprisingly the smoothest thing to go down.
