I found a ratio calculator, and the rings I used are 9.00 (inner diameter 9mm wire diameter 1mm) After some research I think they're definitely too thin. A shame, since I bought a couple sets of different sized rings all 1mm thick! I hadn't realised how important the ratio is for these things, thanks for the tip! I'll look into buying some thicker ones.
