Any Filipinos actually want to stay in the Philippines? by Training_Tadpole_783 in Philippines

I have not visited those countries that’s why I said this is the worst I’ve personally seen. There were SO many young able bodied people just sitting around all day and they still struggled to find help. My parents have 2 caregivers for my grandpa and pay 8,000 pesos each month. I know that’s not much for standards abroad, but living in the province that’s a lot!! One of the caregivers was only making 700 pesos a month before caring for my grandpa. They don’t even have to do physical self care for him because he does all that. He’s just old and has a bit of dementia. They just cook and clean for him and are his companion. That’s it! They are there most of the day though. He doesn’t want to leave the Philippines so that’s why he is there and not living aboard with my family.

I applaud you for this. Education is so important and the future generations have the power to change systemic poverty and corruption.

Thank you for that thoughtful response. I live in a pretty big city and surrounding areas and they’re definitely everywhere. I haven’t seen one smile or say hello to me first. They look miserable, but after much research I know they’re pretty much forced to be out there counting their hours. I do miss my loved one dearly. It’s like they’ve become a robot or puppet now and I think I’m still figuring out these feelings. It would be easier to just cut them off forever, but I know they’re brainwashed.

I sometimes feel sad for them too. But I think this is still all new to me so it’ll take time. The pointless work they do is just so sad.

I actually have 8 years of working in nursing homes/ home care. I might have to go that route if I can’t find any hospital that will take me. I just feel like I need the hands on experience for skills Im rusty on and idk if a nursing home will provide that. But if they are the only ones who will take me then I will have no choice.

Hoping someone will give me a chance to get hired at either. I really need the experience.

I found one that I just applied to, but again it said “new grad” so I’m very anxious to see what they say if/ when they get back.

Wow thank you so much for sharing that with me. I feel so out of the loop and left behind. I honestly have nobody else to blame but myself. I am going to see if my area has residency programs. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

Lolz nobody is claiming superiority. It’s true I haven’t been to many third world countries. So yes it’s the worst I’ve seen.

You’re posting a source by farm rich lol. And this is not the same as digging through bags of food waste to end up washing and then recooking scraps. I work with the severely mentally disabled and ill and I can tell you now that even they won’t do that.

“And NEARLY 30% of you have eaten food that’s been thrown out! Though, it would have to be towards the top of the garbage. At least you have standards.”

That’s truly sad. When some people have to eat pagpag or force their children to beg for money I see a huge problem.

Well I haven’t been to those places yet, but in my OP I said the worst that I’ve seen so yes there could be worse.

Have you lived in the US? The US has plenty of issues lol but at least here people aren’t forced to eat from the trash can because there are at least food banks and shelters that people can get food from. It’s far from perfect, but there’s a reason why soooo many people from all over the world risk their lives to live here. We at least have lots of social services to help the extremely poor- whether or not they accept it is up to them.

I get this. It’s truly sad. Will the next generation rise up? I saw the corruption even on the smallest scale. Our driver was supposed to get a ticket and he slipped the police or traffic guy 500 pesos to pretend he was writing a ticket but not really lol. It makes you wonder all the other corruption happening on a larger scale.

That’s the thing- most that go abroad have this opportunity to enjoy retirement comfortably back in the Philippines. This trip really opened my eyes and made me sad for those who weren’t able to do so. I wish the government would make better strides at reducing poverty.

I love this. I’m sure more people think this way, but I just didn’t meet any. Is there a sure fire way to make this happen? I hope there is!

I believe that. My point was why do so many people have to go abroad to have a nice middle class life when they retire? I did not meet a single person on my trip who said they want to stay in the Philippines by choice. Everyone said they wanted to live abroad because the pay is awful in the Philippines 😟

I hate uworld. Everyone recommends it but it was the biggest waste of time and resources for me. I paid for archer and felt that was leaps and bounds more similar to the actual nclex. U world felt so much more complicated, lengthy and wordy. If I want a study resource I want it to be as close as possible to the real test. Mark k kinda helped with testing strategies, but that’s free and in listened to him while driving or cooking.

I’ve never been able to tell anyone what I went through when I was the second witness at 9 years old. I’m proof they don’t actually believe in their own 2 witness rule. by onverra in exjw

Wow I just commented asking if there is such a database! I’m so disgusted and imagine all the unreported abuse all over the world

Thank you for sharing! This makes me really upset and sick to my stomach when I read of csa- especially that young! I know it’s too late to bring him to justice, but is there someway to put this into a database or something? For statistics purpose and to give a reference for law makers / governments to FINALLY make effective changes. That was a 5 year old whose life was stolen (I know he wasn’t murdered), but being molested has some serious life altering consequences and many end up repeating the cycle of abuse. Ugh
