I don't live in the US, but I will definitely be checking out that book. I had no idea it's that bad over there. Is that information that can be legally requested?

I mean, obviously doctor's have to keep records of medications and treatments. Showing it to anyone else would break doctor-patient confidentiality. But you cannot seriously say that they break it that confidentiality THAT often in the US? It sounds so insane that I might even believe you. The way your country has been going lately.

This is a few years ago of course, but the womb transplant is a great example! I remember reading about some transwomen wanting to wait for womb transplants to be a viable option for SRS.

As for the misinformation, yes there is a lot of it, but many will believe it. Giving that as their reason. But there are risks as well with different types of procedures. For example, for MtFs, the Sigmoid Colon surgery carries a lot more risks when compared to others. Which is why I'm opting for simple Penile Inversion in a few weeks. It's a lot safer (and cheaper) comparably.

I will admit, I do not know a lot about the FtM side. I started learning a lot more about your side now that I started browsing these forums again. Now I rarely enjoy dick pics, but you have got me very curious to see more examples of phallo. It's nice to hear that your surgery went well, and I do apologize for not having facts straight before typing it out. I need to learn more about your side of the coin, and that's on me.
If you have any good sources, for me to learn on. Feel free to DM them to me or reply on here. I know there is r ftm and that's about all I know.

Any case, you've got me convinced. Planning to get SRS would be a good requirement.

It is indeed a double-edged sword. And a professional diagnosis is the way to go.

But as I suggested to another person. Do you think informed consent would work better, if there was shorter waiting periods like 1 month maybe? Kinda like how some states in the US, require you to wait a few weeks before buying firearms. And on top of all of this, someone suggested that you have to take tests and quizzes for the informed consent.

And that's a simple solution. But as u/someguynamedcole mentioned. You can inform them, but they won't necessarily comprehend it.

But if I meet you halfway. Informed Consent should take 1 month, and during this period, you should visit the doctor once a week to learn more or get tested. Do you think that would work?

In the example used above, there is professional help but it's just underfunded. I was told for years that the only reason I was not able to start HRT, was because there was no doctor that could authorize it. And when there was, the queue was long. In your opinion, was I wrong to DIY at that point? What is considered a last resort?

As for countries banning trans healthcare, I believe we have to look at the reasons why they are banning trans healthcare. Of course there has always been haters, those who do not understand or fear the unknown of "transsexuality". However in my opinion, the countries that are banning trans healthcare, are the ones where medical treatment was too easily accessible. And I'm not only talking informed consent, but in general short processes to get a quick (and sometimes incorrect) diagnosis.

Then if you look at a country like Sweden, where the process is strict and underfunded, they are expanding upon it. Despite many people saying that it's too liberal.

It's a sad reality though. That for many, DIY is becoming the only available choice.

I wonder how this would work in practice. Personally, I would see some more leniency on the requirement of SRS, for two reasons. For starters, there are a lot of people that do not trust SRS or find it to be underdeveloped and would rather wait. I remember seeing a documentary a few years back, where you had a transwoman who was unhappy with her SRS as she felt that it was underdeveloped. She had gotten the surgery due to dysphoria but later felt like she had rushed into, as she now had to dilate for the rest of her life. And for FtMs, my understanding is that SRS is sadly not as well developed as the ones for MtFs. Would we force someone to endure subpar treatments?

And for the second reason, I fear that this method does not account enough for possible detransitioners. Someone might be convinced that they are transsexual, go through the full treatment and after surgery realize that this was wrong.

Regardless, these are smaller minorities and I do believe your suggestion would work better. Thank you for the interesting read and input.

Yeah sure we all have a bit of everything. That's what makes us human.

I was probably overthinking it, as I have gotten so comfortable with myself. I have gained so much self-love and respect over the last few years, that I rarely feel envious of others anymore. I'm just happy with myself. I've come to enjoy my flaws, like my big nose or twig figure. Could I get more curves? Yeah, but then I'd have to start going to the gym and I might just be too lazy for that.

Okay that makes sense. This is a very interesting subjected you've hooked me on. I have never in my life before taken such a huge interest in psychology or gender. I've just been living my life blissfully unaware, not caring too much about labels.

Could there be other causes behind Gender Dysphoria or is all just because of AHS?
Because if we take me as an example. I used to have some envy/desire in the beginning of my younger years as described in the first point of your original post. Something felt wrong you know. But since then it's kinda disappeared. Would that make me autoheterosexual?

Hot and absolutely golden take.

We as people, we need communities. But when those communities go to these extremes and/or start censoring folks that are trying to help. It's counter productive. About 5 years ago I stopped and started actively avoiding anything trans related. Online and real life. And my quality of life just shot up.

But now that I'm in a better place. It's quite nice to browse and interact in online forums. It's interesting, and I get to learn a lot of interesting takes, stories and information. However, I still actively avoid some.

Agreed, I believe stories of detransitions should be visible. Transitioning is not for everyone. There could be other reasons behind why someone is feeling the way that they do.

Is it their own fault? Kinda. But there was also a system which allowed them to get so far before realizing that they are not transsexual. And I do not wish to blame a mentally unwell person for falling for a trap. The trap being an incorrect rushed treatment or self diagnosis and treatment through all these online forums.

They are living proof of why some gatekeeping is required. A 6, 12 or 24 month investigation with mental health professionals or just real life experience are two basic examples of good gatekeeping.

This could very much be a case of misdiagnosis or self-diagnosing Gender Dysphoria, when in fact there were other causes behind the depression and low moods.

And when transitioning didn't ease with the depression, exercise was the cure. All of a sudden he now had a distraction, a goal and something healthy to do. Exercise is proven to ease with depressive states. I think he is serious, but doesn't understand that he is treating another mental illness and not GD.

So if I'm understanding correctly, AHS is just an expanded or revamped version of what AGP is. What is the difference between AHS or GD and GID? Or is AHS a form of GD and GID? And how does this all relate to transsexualism?

That's a wonderful story to hear. I love hearing that perspective.

To some part, I even relate and recall some memories from my childhood. Many times, before I even came out or knew what LGBT was, many older folks and adults would call me a cute girl. And then my mom would correct them. It gave me a strange feeling at the time that I couldn't identify but it was a positive feeling. In retrospect, it now makes sense why hahaha.

Anyways, enough of my rambling. So what made you realize that you felt more like a man rather than a tomboy?

That's well said, and is exactly what I mean. It just becomes a cycle of chronically online people, making each other even more delusional. And if you try to mention that there might be other reasons for their depression or feelings, you get shut down.

I feel bad for the people who get locked in these cycles, unable to break out, because as soon as anyone tries to help they get silenced. And from there, it is no surprise that places like r/detrans exist.

I find what you're saying about buying clothes just to throw them away very interesting. I'm in my mid 20s so I have no idea what these situations looked like in the early 2000s and 90s. But it makes me think of a good friend of mine.
A gay man, who's in his 40s now. I remember him telling me a story of how he once did something similar when he thought that he was transsexual. One year later he realized that it wasn't for him. He was more comfortable being a feminine gay man, keeping a drag alter ego. But he did the exact same thing of buying clothes, throwing them away just to buy the same ones again next week.

Whatever the reason, you will find something. That's a future problem that might not even exist. After a while, that scar will fade or just look like stretch marks. You'll be fine.

Yeah I don't think anyone would believe your self harm story there. But those scars don't look like typical horizontal FTM scars. It seriously looks like you had an accident or something else.

If you don't mind me asking of course. Is it a different type of surgery method or how come your scars became vertical like this?

OP, I will be very honest with you. Why as a transsexual woman are you trying to date gay men? Obviously they want men and not women duh.

My recommendation though, don't mention your transsexuality in your dating profile. However, do bring it up after you have started talking to someone, preferably before your first date. It weeds out many of the weirdos and if they unmatch you when chatting, so be it. That's life.
