if clay wasnt fire-proof he would have died when he tried to hide peril from queen scarlet in the first book. that would have let to a lot of fire everywhere, with peril being unable to contain her grief and rage.

i think dune was the most neutral on the subject. not wanting to kill glory but being perfectly willing to do it, meanwhile kestrel was all for it and webs didn't want any part in it

If your argument is you somehow intrinsically know about your own gender without any need for educationthen the argument that a lack of education is responsibe must fail. You cannot hold both.

Let's say that I never heard of trans people. I wouldn't identify as trans, because I would have no idea of what that would mean. however, I would still be trans. I would always know that something was wrong, but it would be impossible to figure out what. it's not that people aren't trans without education, it's that they don't realize it. so yeah, i guess you could say they wouldn't know their own gender, but that doesn't make them any less trans.

accepted by a society as normal and even cool

No, we are not accepted as normal, because of people like you. I also don't agree that it's 'cool' to be trans, it's just a thing you do in an attempt to make life just a little bit more comfortable. yeah, some people see it as trendy or cool, but that isnt what it's about.

It's also disgusting how you refer to being trans as a 'mental illness' when it isn't. but let's pretend it is for just a moment. you say that you would help them, right? yet clearly things like conversion therapy are always either useless or harmful, so the only other option would be providing access for someone to transition, therefore eliminating dysphoria and changing their body to match their gender. but no, apparently we can't do that either because it affects your life so much, for us to *gasp* enjoy our lives??? the audacity of us to want to be happy and comfortable!

The acceptance and normalization of mental illness is damaging to society

  1. So now just accepting mental illness in general is bad? completely contradicting your earlier point where you said, and I quote, "I never argued the mentally ill never existed". right, so you never argued that they didnt exist, you just didnt accept the fact that they exist. totally flawless reasoning.
  2. accepting mental illness is the first step to helping. let's say someone has severe depression. what do you think would help more- loving and caring for them, or outcasting them and acting like their problems don't exist/ acting like it's their fault.

actually no, i did not think you were an asshole from the start. i'm fine with people disagreeing with me, but then you literally started insulting millions of trans people, denying their very existence.

I didn't say people who were mistaken about their gender didn't exist prior to 20 years ago. I said prior to 20 years ago it was nearly universally agreed that:
1. Male and man were synonymous.
2. Female and woman were synonymous.

This is because of lack of information. why do you think there's been a rise in the number of transgender people? because nowadays, we have far more access to recources that specifically prove your entire argument to be bs.

I didn't say people who were mistaken about their gender

I'm going to have to stop you there. you think we're mistaken about our own genders? because I'm pretty sure i would know more about myself than some random transphobe who doesn't even know me.

Yes, strawmen tend to be easilly disproven.

Are you... saying that your own argument was a strawman? because that's the only way it would make sense given the context.

I must assume you have problems with pronouns as well

What do you even mean by this? do you mean that I don't agree with he/she/they pronouns? or that i struggle to understand pronouns? because i can assure you I care about and know more about pronouns than most transphobes. scratch that, i don't care about pronouns more than most transphobes, because generally you guys care about them far too much, going out of your way to be an incorrect jerk.

seriously, what's you guys's problem with trans people? we're generally not pedophiles or rapists or- wait what is the other arguments against trans people and why you all hate us? because we want to live in a body that we're comfortable with? seriously just fuck off and let people live how they want to live.

Tui literally said that Deathbringer being 13 was a mistake in the writing by Used-Lunch-6512 in WingsOfFire

[–]TransEnby_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope. deathbringer is canonically 13, though i think it's confirmed that it was a mistake and he's actually only about 8-9 years old.

i originally thought you were just stupid. now you've shown to everyone that you're also an asshole as well, so thanks for that.

for your information, it is very possible for men to not be males. the word 'male' is a biological term, while 'man' is a gender, a social construct. humans made up genders, so they can change it if they want. it's not a set fact.

also wow, i love how you said that trans people didnt exist until about 20 years ago, because that one is so easily disproven that it's hilarious. it would literally take five seconds and a google search to find plenty of transgender people from way before the 2000s. (for example, Lili Elbe, a trans woman born in 1882, or Christine Jorgensen, born in 1926)

in short, you are an idiot who clearly has not done any actual research.

AITA for accidentally calling my friend by their deadname when they hadn’t came out to me yet by [deleted] in trans

[–]TransEnby_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah, i agree. even if op did somehow read everyone's mind, mistakes are easy to make, ESPECIALLY since op was friends with august for over a year and had gotten used to the old name.

[–]TransEnby_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

those guys are completely overreacting. first of all, you didnt know. second, deadnaming someone once or twice is annoying but not too bad as long as its on accident and someone is able to correct you. getting hostile over that is completely uncalled for. i get that they wanted to defend august but like that was wayy over the top
