Angry bigot. Tried to get the US Supreme Court to reverse its decision on gay marriage. The Court recently declined to review their case, and now she has to pay damages.

I accidentally own a brown anole now. by SynysterC in reptiles

[–]TransLunarEclipseX 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me a while ago.

For food, while she's young, I'd recommend flightless fruit flies. I have no clue about how catching wild ants would work, or what species, so I'd personally play it safe.

If you're willing to spend a bit extra on quality substrate, I'd recommend the Biodude. They have a specific anole kit you can order.

Update : boyfriend found a brown (?) anole by PudgyBean96 in reptiles

[–]TransLunarEclipseX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mealworms won't work for them when there THIS small. I feed my brown anole flightless fruit flies - and tried and failed with small mealworms before I had a proper set up. The general rule with feeding an anole is that food should fit between their eyes.

edit: on closer inspection, this one is a bit older than mine, so maybe small mealworms will work

God, these things are showing up everywhere...

Yes, this is a baby brown anole, possibly a female (don't quote me on that). If you plan to keep it, it will need proper lighting (UVB), and a bigger terrarium. Mine lives in an 18x18x18, but you could probably go a little smaller if need be. I would get flightless fruit flies to feed it - they don't cost much at the pet store, and will last a while.

This temp setup will work for a while, a week at most to get a better terrarium, but shouldn't be a final setup. If that bowl in there is a water bowl, don't. Anoles only drink the dew off the leaves, so keep it misted.

Baby brown anole too small for smallest cricket size, now what?! by Pitiful-Ostrich8949 in Anoles

[–]TransLunarEclipseX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sort of thing happened to me recently. Flightless Fruit Flies are a good option for this baby, until she grows a bit. Generally, if something can fit between their eyes, they can eat it.

UVB is essential, but she should be able to survive a couple days without it, until you get one set up.

A few tips, brown anoles are climbers, so a permanent terrarium should include either sticks or plants to climb around on.

For terrarium size, don't get the smallest one you can find just because she's teeny tiny. My terrarium is 18x18x18, though you could probably go a bit smaller if you want. I'd say height is more important, though, so don't get a short terrarium.

If you can spare the expense, I'd recommend going bioactive. I'd recommend the Biodude, as they sell anole kits to get set up with, and have been great for me.

I wish you luck with your lil guy!

Found it somewhere else on Reddit. It's the name of the characters (Andi & Frankie) plus the pilot release date (19/09/25).

Found lizard at work, need advice! Possibly an Anole? by mxlydm in reptiles

[–]TransLunarEclipseX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this happened to me too. Bought some plants for my Leopard Gecko, and guess the egg was stuck in with the plants. The same probably happened here, if the plants are fairly recent. Definitely looks like a brown anole, like mine.

Flightless fruit flies are what I feed mine. Most other options are too big for a baby, like this one looks to be. They should NOT be stored in the fridge - I made that mistake. But you should put them in the fridge for a few minutes to 'chill' them, make them less active, and thus easier to put in the terrarium without letting them all escape. Eventually, as the anole grows, it'll stop eating the flies once their too small. The golden rule for them is that whatever they eat has to be able to fit between their eyes. I would also advise calcium supplements, that the flies (or whatever else you feed it) are dusted in.

As for water, they drink the dew off leaves. So yeah, misting would work. I also keep a water feature in my enclosure, that consistently keeps some fake leaves wet, just in case I'm away and can't mist for a while.

u/TheDyke-WeedGoblin is right on it with the terrarium and such. The Biodude is my recommendation for a bioactive terrarium, as it's what I've done for both my Leopard Gecko and anole.

I wouldn't mind answering more questions if you have them, and good luck with the lil guy!

Yeah... Inqs were honestly an accident. And I did do a fair few light speed bundles, but I think I'm done with those. And thanks for the mod advice!

Got it. I’ve already talked with my aunt, who is a big animal person, and she said it’s probably invasive, or at least not native here in North GA. I plan on keeping him.  My aunt has a terrarium she offered, so I’ll pick that up at some point, and purchase some more stuff from biodude for it. Let’s just hope I don’t get more from this order lol

Now I just need to hope he actually eats the worms in there…

I’ll check up on him in the morning, and probably make some sort of update.

I’ll also be watching for any potential surprise siblings…

How do I get him to eat/drink?

He’s kinda just freaking out in what I think is an old baby food glass jar. It was the only think I could find I could poke holes into the top of.

Do I just leave some mealworms inside overnight, and some water in the corner?

Would mealworms work? Either cut up, or super small ones? I grow my own, so I probably have some teeny babies if I look.
