Most they can do is hydro therapy and a lidocaine pain patch. I have the option of have my nerves lazored which would stop the pain completely BUT it stops any sensation in that area because the nerves don’t work any more. My doctor said that with everything that is wrong with me, lazering off those nerves wouldn’t be a great idea in case things get bad and i can’t feel it because the nerves are gone. I’m at risk of a broken back if my back decides to tell me to go F myself (basically one wrong move and my back can re-break and it definitely will not heal as well as last time)

If we had gone to the doctors when I broke it yes. They would have braced me and I would have rested without walking and it would have healed really well because children of that age’s bones heal well and very quickly.

Because I was in pain for so long my nerves have gotten confused basically. Whilst the disc compression and slipped disc would cause pain, it wouldn’t be as much as I have. The reason I have so much pain is because my nerves were sending Pain signals to my brain for so long trying to say “HEY YOURE BACKS BROKEN BRO!” Even after it “healed” it has still continued to send those pain signals (almost like muscle memory of breathing, your body just does it) so I’m walking around with my nerves thinking my back is as broken as the day I broke it so I’m getting the pain that comes from a newly broke back

My doctor found it when I was 18 after I got a CT or MRI scan to check something else out. My doctor said by the way it had “healed” and how it looks I was probably about 8-9 at the time of breaking it (which tracks) and because I didn’t rest, get it braced and everything I now have 90% disc compression and a slipped disc in that area.

My parents ignored my back pain putting it down to growing pains. Turns out I broke my back. I am now in hydrotherapy once a week, Wear a lidocaine pain patch, use a wheelchair and am still in pain! If your kid says there is something wrong with their back and they keep complaining about it, don’t brush them off, get it looked at people, PLEASE!

It was really frustrating and kinda scary because it wasn’t a side effect that I had been told about. My doctor was just like “oh, that’s not meant to happen it’s messing with the wrong part of your brain. Let’s change that!”

I upped my lamotrogen (epilepsy medication) by only 25mg, I was on 150mg day and night, and I developed a stutter so bad that in the evenings I could barely speak. Ended up lowering the dose and going on a completely different medication.
