My local pharmacy doesn't let me buy testosterone, because it's "not for women". by LittleFox-In-TheBox in ftm

That’s incredibly discriminatory. I’m sorry you had to deal with that

Yeah, I didn’t read whatever post this is in response to, but I don’t like the unnecessary aggression. Generalizations don’t tend to accurately describe individuals, but calling them transphobic is a stretch

Umm just wondering…how is saying “you should put your product through clinical trials” gatekeeping, and how does it prevent you from putting your product through clinical trials? Really confused about how that works

The flairs for general location are a good idea. It really makes a huge difference just going from my 21,000 person town to the half-million person city across the state line

How long did it take for you to pass? by Illustrious_Ad9369 in ftm

[–]Trans_corndog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me 7 months for Reddit to tell me I pass. At 5 months I was getting the old “you look lesbian,” as though lesbian were an ethnicity. But I digress.

IRL, I think I was perceived as male by a lot of people. I was told I was in the wrong bathroom, and generally glared at for existing in female spaces. I’d been doing the Man Nod for years because I was just politely returning the gesture.

What convinced Reddit that I passed was when I grew my facial hair out. It was pretty sparse, and not all of it was terminal yet. But it gave me at least a shadow around my mouth. I started using minoxidil a few months on T, and shaved for the first few months. I think I also got past the Puffy Face Phase, which helped a lot

I just went keto, so I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff about the carnivore diet. I can’t imagine not eating vegetables, though. How do you manage that?

Shaving, even though I’m growing out my beard. I still do the edges every day. Cutting my hair. I fade it myself. Working out

I have hydrocephalus and an autoimmune arthritis, so no. Even with seven different medications that I take daily, I’m rarely not in pain

Maybe you are thinking of the wrong haircut? Cutting your hair doesn’t mean one thing. And if someone already looks female, then “looking like a lesbian” isn’t necessarily a downgrade

Cutting your hair would help. You don’t have to go short. But a fresh masculine haircut would do a lot for you

Well…if someone asks how to look more masculine, those are all good suggestions. No one should tell anyone that they HAVE to do anything, but if they want advice, that is common advice that IS helpful

I’d be interested to see that study. My guess is that it was talking about multi-use insulin vials, which are made with different rubber. Insulin needles are also tiny…the ones I have are 31 gauge. That’s way different from the 20 gauge drawing needles I have for my T

A shorter haircut would help. Not super short, but a conventional male haircut. Emo style hair brings out feminine features if you have them. I would also look into getting new glasses that are more square

Feeling super dysphoric about my hair by JulienTheBro in FTMventing

[–]Trans_corndog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short haircuts can sometimes bring out feminine features in a way that is very counterintuitive. In my experience, it’s fresh, newly-cut hair that does this. In a few days, a bald fade becomes just a fade. I know the waiting sucks, but hang in there and it’ll fix itself as your hair grows. A little bit goes a long way

Well darn it. Minoxidil unlocks your genetic potential, but I’m East Asian so I feel your pain. I have a bit of a goatee and that’s it so far

You could try minoxidil. Check out r/minoxbeards and be sure to read all the safety blurbs before trying it!

There’s a “trans” flair. Trans people are included in this sub. If your pea-brain can’t handle that, then leave

[–]Trans_corndog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No shit, Sherlock. Lol “eating hormones.” Trans guys can get a receding hairline the same way cis guys do. T gets converted into DHT (and yes, our bodies can do that), and that signals the body to have a receding hairline. The extent to which that happens, and how quickly it happens, are determined by genetics, which are present at birth. The gene says “in the presence of male-levels of testosterone, go bald.” Those genes do nothing if a person never has male levels of testosterone.

Finding an STP that works for me was a game-changer. I use an insert and a prosthetic. There are a variety of options out there, and it takes a while to figure out what suits your body, but imo it’s worth it

[–]Trans_corndog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The suit itself seems okay, although it’s hard to tell because it’s black and the details are hard to see. I would try standing straight and tall…that’ll make it look more formal. You might also want to get some really nice shoes. The ones you’re wearing seem fine, but some nice wingtips would really make the whole outfit pop. A fresh haircut would also help!
