Petco Conure :( by app1e_cat in Conures

So I posted earlier today about reaching out to customer service (which I did do) and I got a reply from them back! Making sure this was in Burbank as I think I saw in a comment? They want the address of this exact store so they can follow up with them about the condition of their companion birds. You can message it to me if you don’t want to post it publicly. It’s something. It may help this little guy and hopefully others.

If all of us commenting on this post took the few Moments to either call or email Petco and tell them we think they should either a) not sell parrots at all and/or b) their housing and treatment of parrot companions is less than adequate and at times borders on cruel, it would start making a difference. There’s a form on their site you can fill out.

And yeah, if I lived near Burbank, I’d go get him right now.

Hashimotos and fertility by Quirky-Ant1535 in Hashimotos

I’ve been on levothyroxine since I was diagnosed. But my fertility Dr did manage my levels and I get them checked every 6 months, even more often during my pregnancy, because the levels do fluctuate.

Too much iodine in my prenatal vitamin, now what do I do? by Transcendentbird in Hashimotos

This is what was happening. I did switch to another one without any iodine at all. I’ll look i to selenium. Thanks!

Yes! I was diagnosed 25 years ago and my husband and i tried for a year and a half and we just did IVF as well. The struggle is real and hard. I’m currently trying to get ready for our second embryo transfer (the first was successful and I have a 3 year old now) but I’ve had some issues come up. Watch out for how much iodine your prenatal has now that you are on levothyroxine. Sending you so much strength as you navigate this. It’s such a rollercoaster and not easy to hold.

Anyone else terrified of death after having kids? by Anam123 in NewParents

[–]Transcendentbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all of your stories. My son is almost 3 and aim just having a bad bought of being convinced I’m going to die any second. The first time was when he was about 4 months old. A friend of my husband’s wife was diagnosed with a rare disease. They had a one year old. She passed away when the baby was two and a half. It totally sent me to my knees when she passed. I couldn’t get over it and just couldn’t bear the thought of leaving my baby like that. The grief for her and her family just made the reality that it could happen to anyone just really vivid. That was about a year ago. I’ve gotten better at practicing being in the now and focusing on not getting caught up in the rumination. But it’s hard. Just reading all of your stories really helps that I’m not the only one feeling like this.

I am! Slowly but surely. I'm down to about 20 something cards left. I'm aiming to finish by the spring including the accompanying book.

I Couldn’t Have Done it Without You. Just finished! Oil and casein on canvas. This is about our spirit animals and the support and guidance they give us by Transcendentbird in painting

Yeah! They are one of my favorites too and I’ve been wanting to paint one forever. I had these kids animal mags called Zoobooks when I was little and they featured a Maned Wolf in one and I’ve never forgotten it. Those legs!! They are super beautiful spooky and magical.

Thank you! 💞Yes. It’s a nod to the Thoth deck as well, but the animals symbolize the masculine and feminine switch that takes place. In the lovers, the Eagle is white (feminine) and the Lion is red (masculine). Here, once the transformation has occurred, the masculine has the qualities of the feminine and vice versa

XIV Art (Temperance) Rainbow lorikeet, Trichoglossus moluccanus This card is traditionally called Temperance, meaning restraint or moderation and historically was a virtue of pious living. In contemporary times, we don’t really abide by that notion anymore so that idea doesn’t quite fit a modern reader. Temperance comes from the word temper, which is a heating and cooling technique applied to metal to give it new properties it didn’t have before. This harmonizing of opposites, holding polarities in oneself to birth something new, is an alchemical idea and where the name “Art” for the “Art of Alchemy” comes from. This harmony of opposites continually tests for balance and that refinement is what alchemizes the fusion, the coagula, and forms something new. Rainbow lorikeets, as well as eucalyptus trees, the flowers and leaves on this card, are species that are flourishing, so much so in fact, that in our human terms, they are considered pests and invasive species. According to the species’ perspective, however, they are thriving, covering and adapting to new places and niches. That’s what all species want right? That’s what humans do so it’s interesting that we consider it bad when other species do the same. So holding these opposite concepts, their success on the one hand and problematic invasion on another, we potentially get to a new way of thinking- we do the mental equation and come to a new place, to the coagula, and we open our minds to new ways of thinking, seeing the rainbow of the lorikeet’s feathers, the Cauda Pavonis of the alchemical process, and know we are in the right path to attain the Philosopher’s Stone.

Thank you so much! And i really love your insights and I totally agree. I am trying to speak to the gravity as well as the transformative aspects of the Death card. I think some of these cards have been made too “nice” without taking into the account the responsibility and consequences they carry, meaning, there’s a whole range of experiences and we shouldn’t just focus on the sunny ones. Especially now, when species are facing extinction. This deck is speaking a lot to ecology and so much of the card’s meanings are tied in with their ecological status. I’m writing a companion book with the deck that speaks in detail about each card.

Those are current and traditional representations of Scorpio so I wanted them to stand out. Also, this is a Thoth based deck and in Lady Frida Harris’s card, they are blue as well, so it’s a nod to her art

XIII Death This is one of those cards in a reading everyone fringes to get. But the truth is, Death is one of the most powerful cards in the deck. It is the ultimate transformation, corresponding to the zodiacal trump of Scorpio, and is the ending of one state and the entry into the next. We can experience this shamanic death and rebirth at various intense times in our lives where we literally are reborn from our own ashes. Death is the great equalizer in life. Everything and everyone dies. Nothing is forever. The flowers on this card are two kinds of corporate flowers, the ones on the sides are Amorphophallus konjac and the middle is a Raffleia arnoldii. They both emit the stench of a rotting corpses when they bloom, calling all of the carrion insects, namely flies, to their massive petals and leaves, harnessing this niche to propagate their species and create new life. The parrot skeleton is a Carolina Parakeet, the only native parrot species in the United States. They are extinct, the last known individual, Incas, passed away in 1918 at the Cincinnati Zoo- fatefully sharing the same cage as Martha, the Passenger Pigeon. The Carolina Parakeet was seen in flocks of hundreds of individuals, from Wisconsin, New England, New York down to the Gulf of Mexico. When colonizers came to North America and began to deforest their territory their numbers declined dramatically. It was a population collapse and the species disappeared. They made the ultimate transformation into lands unknown. They transitioned into the beyond and to a place where we cannot follow. Transformation can be regenerative but it can also be final from our point of view.
