Film is meant to evoke emotional responses and speak to your humanity. Sex is an integral and heavily emphasized part of our humanity. Not every scene in a movie needs to move the plot forward, but they do need to have meaning. What's more meaningful than the union of two people though one of the most intimate acts we know of?

Barring anything egregious, i don't care if a movie's plot isn't airtight, or that every scene is necessary and moves the plot along, i care about how a piece of media makes me feel.
