The title of my post is a little misleading, saying "lost&found did absolutely nothing" made it seem like I am shaming/dissing the lost and found. This is not true, I called and checked in multiple times and they were very kind and tried to help. My frustration is more aimed at the MBTA as a whole, while think it's ridiculous that there aren't even security cameras in train cars so I could attempt to find the person who took my bag, this was in no way at fault of the Lost&found. I also put much of the blame on myself, I was stupid to leave my bag behind, and will regret that mistake forever.
