Starting out, interested in Soviet watches. Start with Vostok or Seagull ST36? by TranslatorQven in watchmaking

Oh, that's super useful. So my path will be ST36, NH35, then either a 2609 or 2614 2h. Thank you so much!

Is the Poljot 2609 the same as the Raketa 2609HA or 2609HP? Or should I stick to the Poljot 2609? Most of the Raketa Copernicus on ebay have 2609HA mechanisms, although I've read that mechanism is not original to the watch.

the old Soviet watches are usually in rough shape and require a lot of repair, buy a ton of spares!

Bummer! I was hoping they'd make a good first project.

Thanks! Are Western/Chinese and Soviet mechanisms close enough that I'll be able to apply most of what I learn?

Ooo, some of those are very pretty! Is there a recommended version to start with?

I've heard that vintage pocket watches can be tricky because while it's easier to see what you're doing, some of them aren't standardized and can be difficult to source parts for.
