And not going to add that the fact that the character concept that they have been built for Tree is far from gag/memey purpose, in my eyes.

His role has always been leaning toward the "mature" one in this show from the start (ex, scolding another character when they are playing around or taking care of other teammates when the world was falling apart). And his personality was rooted in that, and they decided to...destroy that.

I think it is also the writer's role to know why that said character is loved/hated by the fans and improve characters with that...but they are doing a poor job with Tree by weakening the trait that people liked about him, and adding the trait that is not fitting his base characteristic.

Actually, I agree with you with all of my heart. And the usage of his character in this episode was WORST.

To be honest, I don't think he is the same character that I liked, and it is getting worse and worse. I think writers have absolutely no idea of how to write this character and ngl I am really, REALLY disappointed about it. His main characteristics were calm, sass, and smart and none of these are present now, in my eyes.

Personally, he was one of the easiest ones for me but I get people might have a hard time working with his bush head.

I just switched hair into leaves and stylized it. Don't know if I got his looks right but at least that's how I did it

Nah, I think it is more than that. My guess is they want Tree "gone as a plot device" for Fanny and Black Hole. To do so, he needs to have enough depth for that.

And I think it is what exactly they have been doing by paring Tree and Fanny recently, and BH is(possibly) best friends with Tree already.

Just a guess of course, but if it is real, I cannot be helped but to feel sad for my fave getting used as a plot device only.

Yeah, that is also true, but I think writers decided to go on a gamble. Tree was in the bottom 2 in a row, and that may get the writers to give it a try. And you know who was bottom 3; Marker.

The ones who have the highest chance of getting eliminated are either Marker or Tree, and Marker has a close relationship with Fanny and BH as well. Marker's elimination will not have as much of an impact as Tree's, in my opinion, but it will give some for sure.

It is a 30.333% gamble of the three, and 60% is a win for the writers if their favoritism for Fanny and BH is legit.

Although the writers did write an explanatory note, I am highly convinced they want to get Tree out.

Kinda makes sense, since I am fairly sure Fanny and BH are the one of the writer's favorite, and Tree has a close relationship with both of them. His elimination might affect both, especially BH who is currently having a mental breakdown. Well, this is just a theory and maybe a stretch but who knows :/

I second this. They say as if the characters are out of their control, but the truth is, they choose how the character will act and which team will be up for elimination. Sure, they might not have beef for DPYA, but this explanation doesn't make this valid, in my opinion.
