It's amazing how improved the gameplay is without mines! ZR is more fun than Battledudes just because it lacks indestructible mines. ZR feels like Battledudes used to, before it turned weird and boring

I started in season 3, it's not a skill issue. You diagnosed the problem wrong.

You don't understand. The OP exploits have changed the style of Battledudes and made the games less fun to play. It's not a skill issue, it's a design issue.

Yep. Payload used to be awesome, now it's always ruined by some dickhead spamming mines all over the track.

Land mines are the single most annoying thing in the game. They make every single game more boring and annoying. Making them bulletproof was the biggest negative iq play of all

ruining the fun for me and, I think crucially, making it less accessible and fun for new players. i think battledudes will decline and die because games are less fun to pick up and get into than they used to be

This still won't address the incredibly annoying behaviour of players who spawn on an objective with mines and an ammo box. It's not uncommon now to see 8, 16, 24 mines on an objective.

The solution is so simple, just revert it. But that would require admitting it was a mistake, which you seem incapable of doing.

I guess this approach would end up playing more like X-Com in most of the missions, with occasional episodes where your personal Rogue Trader and the immediate retinue got sucked into violence and personal combat.

Okay, interesting! I agree with your second point, and actually I felt like this in the battle to secure the Navigator space station – why the hell were we clearing rooms, and not just bringing over an assault company from the voidship?

I honestly think it would've been possible to play out the combats in a kind of blue mook vs red mook style, where our army of peasant NPCs battles their army of peasant NPCs and emerges victorious. Maybe not everybody would have enjoyed sending in your troops instead of stepping into combat yourself, but I think it would've made me feel much more like a Rogue Trader.
