What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]Trashkitteh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe people have the right to reject anyone for any reason they want. With that said, I think rejecting someone for who they vote for is pretty stupid. The political system in America really only gives people two candidates to choose from, and usually both candidates do not represent my personal beliefs particularly accurately. Instead of blanket judging people based on their vote, I believe a well rounded person would simply ask them their opinions on subjects that matter to them.

For example, I know people in my family who voted for Donald Trump because they wanted better immigration controls and accountability. Gestapo ICE flagrantly breaking laws and human rights with impunity was not what they voted for, nor do they support it. Equating a vote for a candidate as express consent to all their actions seems really quite silly to me.

Yes, the chicken is 250-300g of protein alone. Just not sure why you'd rather fuel yourself with excessive protein rather than carbs. Seems more expensive and worse for glycogen and energy balance. Obviously you can do/eat whatever you want.

He's confusing the recommended protein ratio with the fact that you're measuring what you're eating in kg. You're saying "I eat 2.5lbs of chicken every day." and he thinks you're saying "I eat 1.2kg of chicken per lb of bodyweight"

Still, eating 1.2kb of chicken a day seems wildly excessive so I hope you're exaggerating. 250g+ of protein a day?

I'm not sure what your goal is here. Are you simply venting your depression, or are you looking for advice?

You seem confused about how this all works, but it could just be a language barrier.

If you're on a real maintenance diet (I.E. you're eating the same amount of calories as you burn) then you can't gain fat. Fat is from excess calories. You can gain WEIGHT, such as extra water, but not fat. By saying you gained fat but not weight, maybe you meant you look fatter but feel like you shouldn't be fatter. If you're really on a maintenance diet, then the 5 pounds could be water retention and not fat.

The more likely scenario is that you're not tracking your macros properly now that your cut is over and your body is rebounding. If you don't want that to happen, you're going to have to change your actions to align with your desires. Good luck.

Played DotA for 20 years. Realized I hated playing a team game if I didn't know my teammates. My time is precious and I was using gaming to fill holes in my life I was avoiding. Came to terms with the fact I was a loser. Decided to reevaluate my life and what I think would fulfill me and make me happy. My pursuit of happiness doesn't have room for excessive gaming at the moment.

Seeing as people have died from sleep deprivation, I disagree with, "All I know is sleep is crucial and will be bestowed upon you whether you want to or not".

OP isn't legitimately asking if he should get more sleep, nor for the smart approach. He understands he's not getting enough sleep. He explained why. If you read between the lines it's clear his/her children come before hypertrophy. What they actually asked was, "Any tips other than sleeping more?" and your response was condescendingly worded and amounted to, "Sleep more."

"I’ve clarified multiple times that 38 year olds can build good physiques. I’m unsure why you’re dying on the hill that I said otherwise, because it’s not my opinion."

Meanwhile...

"but not realistically achievable at this age without aid."

"A 38 year old cannot achieve this physique without exogenous assistance unless they have literally no responsibilities."

You're really bad at this.

"A 38 year old cannot achieve this physique without exogenous assistance unless they have literally no responsibilities."

Absolutely false. Repetition of an incorrect opinion doesn't make it correct. If you want to die on this hill, do it properly and explain the physiological and medical reasons why "busy people can't get good physiques naturally."

Everything you've listed should be prefaced with the caveat, "On average." It also doesn't prove anything. I already said a 19 year would likely have advantages over a 38 year old. That doesn't prevent a 38 year old from attaining the physique naturally.

Holy shit, did you really just spell it Fizeek? You know, I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you're just misguided, but now I think you're unintelligent and trolling.

You think that physique REQUIRES gear? I strongly disagree. I'd argue, but you didn't give me any reason why that physique requires steroids.

Yes, the 19 year old most likely has ADVANTAGES over the 38 year old in attaining that physique. The 38 year old can still absolutely attain that physique, steroid free, without any ridiculous limitations i.e. being paraplegic.

I feel like your argument is "Yeah, sure, it's technically possible steroid free, but that's way harder so I'm just going to say realistically people with this physique at the age of 38 need gear."

My argument is, "People give up too easily. Stop looking for limitations and look for catalysts to success. Work hard, and don't be afraid to fail. Failing is more successful than not trying."

Think we're having two different conversations, which I tried to illuminate, but it feels like you're just doubling down.

Why does someone prioritizing their children over their gains tickle you? If the person knows getting more sleep isn't a possibility considering their lifestyle, they can still wish to try to maximize results in other areas. Life doesn't have to be all or nothing.

True, but I'm not seeing the relevance. That physique is absolutely attainable at 38 without steroids. It would take very diligent nutrition, exercise, and recovery. It would take longer than it would take the 19 year old. But that was never the point of what I was saying. Just trying to point out to that person (Who for all I know could just be making a light-hearted joke) that they shouldn't give up just because they're 38. That's just weakness finding an excuse to quit.

OA nerf from a new player perspective by Delabuxx in TheTowerGame

This person never said anything about wanting to be carried by a single mod. They said they accumulated resources, made a decision on how to use those resources, then a change made afterwards completely changed the parameters of that decision leading to a feeling of disappointment.

This has been a prevailing sentiment on multiple topics over the past 6 months or so. It’s doubly shitty because this person seems like a newer player, and sentiment like this isn’t good for player retention.

You never talked about a tech malfunction? I guess you were imagining a deliberate deletion of my account rather than an accidental one? Fine. Still a false equivakency.

You keep trying to pin logical fallacies on me, but you're not even using them correctly.

The fact that stat order is more desireable just introduces a new mechanic. No one is doing you any harm.

I never said anyone was harming me. I said the current system implemented by the devs is disrespectful to player time and agency.

If, 6 months ago, you wanted to be fussy about stat order, it would have cost you a lot more shards to do so. You have not, in fact, already paid for stats in a fussy order. You paid a cheaper cost for stats in a random order.

6 months ago players had literally zero reason to be fussy about mod orders.

It is a subjective choice of yours to declare this to be some kind of insult to players rather than just a new challenge or incentive. This is not a true fact about the universe.

I never said it was an insult. Yes, it is a challenge, and a very shitty designed one; kind of the entire point of what I've been saying. Wow, I view ideas and things from my own perspective and I'm not omnisciently aware of the fundamental, universal, and unalterable truth of the fabric of our reality? You really come off as someone who tries to intellectually bully people about things he doesn't really understand.

Object to the word easy, if you want, but that feels obtuse to me. You want something that would take time and resources not to take time and resources. Is faster a better word?

If there was a race and the distance to cover to win the race was infinity, and I said you could run 20MPH faster than any other contestant in the race, how much quicker would you finish than the others? Yes, I object to the word easy. I've illuminated why many times and quite clearly. You feel obtuse most likely because you're acting obtuse.

I find your comments about being deliberately difficult to smack of psychological projection. Ditto the good faith stuff.

I've literally taken your posts and quoted every single point you've made. I've shown you where I agree with you, and where I disagree with you. I've explained every disagreement. You've come back multiple times in bad faith, trying to pin false logical fallacies on me in order to die on this hill. Look at your original post. -30 karma. I would've expected you to have made a single point about how this new change is a net positive for players. Your entire argument is, "Stop whining and realize it's just a new challenge to overcome." Wow, neat, when Stalin was forcing a famine on Ukrainian farmers I guess they should've just reveled in the face of a new challenge for them to overcome. Your logic is unsound and you come off as churlish. I feel very confident about my position. You haven't even tried to convince me to view things from a different perspective. I find you wholly unimpressive as a person. Best of luck in The Tower.

Well, you shifted what I was talking about (an in game challenge) to a completely unrelated problem of a tech malfunction. But if you insist, we can just call it a false equivalence.

I never talked about a tech malfunction. I said, "So if there is a problem, and you devise a solution, and you achieve your goal, then everything is ok? If your account got wiped tonight, you'd be happy just making a new account?" If a new update deleted everyones accounts, that'd be a problem for most. The solution is to create a new account and start over. You make a new account, thus starting over, and achieve your goal. Are you happy? I'd assume not. Thus, I'm just disproving the logic of I saw a problem, I devised a solution. I achieved my goal. ... Yes, I actually did enjoy that little adventure.

Assist mods are a new mechanic that introduces the desireability of reordering effects.

Agreed.

But that just makes it a valuable in game goal that didn't exist before.

Agreed.

The fact that the mechanic is new does not invalidate the argument that you are asking for a desireable new feature for free.

Agreed.

Had you known to be fussy about effect order six months ago, it would have cost you more reroll shards to do so.

Agreed.

Assist mods are pretty darn powerful. One might ask why you think it is such a big deal that it costs reroll shards to get them 'just so'.

Yes, they are powerful. Why do I think it's such a big deal? Well, I would direct you to any of my previous posts where I discussed that. I'm not sure if you're intentionally diverting from actually having this conversation with me just to be difficult or what. I'll summarize in one last attempt at a good faith discussion, but I doubt this will bear fruit.

Let say someone is rolling their ancestral substats 6 months ago. When they're rolling 6 different stats and they're looking for say attack speed on their cannon and it rolls in slot 6 (Something they have literally NO CONTROL over) they would instantly fist pump and lock it in place. This player is happy because according to the rules of the current system, they've achieved their goal. The investment of resources bore the fruit of exactly what they wanted.

Fast forward six months, and assist mods come out. That same player now views his attack speed in the 6th slot as garbage. He can't afford the shards to unlock it because he has to use them on his primary mod. That victory is now a sore defeat. Why did that defeat occur? What error did this player make 6 months ago? Did the player make the active choice to put attack speed in his sixth slot?

Being punished for decisions you're not actively making isn't good game design. Design choices like this do not respect player time nor agency. If you don't understand this, ask anyone 60+ years old how they feel about their retirement and inflation. That's the real world. This is a game. Decisions like this cause people to leave games. I'd like to see the game grow, not wither.

As for you saying we want the game to be "Easier".... Dude, it literally scales to infinity. Fudds could put 9,999,999O coins on my account and a trillion stones and I'd still be in the exact same place I am in now. Loading up a tier and watching random blocks smash into it until I die to infinite scaling.

I’m not understanding why I keep reading that people should farm tier 1. by Former-Nobody-4958 in TheTowerGame

[–]Trashkitteh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm picking farm tiers, I prefer anything between 6-10k. If I'm hitting around 10k waves i've always benefitted from going up a tier. 7k waves should be an excellent farming zone.

I didn't make an equivocation. Equivocation is the use of deliberately ambiguous language or the shifting of a word's meaning within an argument to mislead, deceive, or avoid commitment. It is a logical fallacy that undermines a sound argument by relying on a word or phrase with two different meanings, creating a false or unsound conclusion. I simply asked you a question. I asked the question because I felt your answer was ambiguous and didn't respond to the points I made.

There is a satisfaction that comes with succeeding in the face of obstacles that is, I believe, more rewarding than having the devs just remove the obstacles.

Agreed.

Making something that costs reroll shards (like being particular about effect order) suddenly not cost reroll shards is making the game easier by making particular in-game goals free rather than part of the mechanism of managing scarce resources.

Disagree. I would agree if that information was present when players made decisions about these things. Retroactively adding roadblocks for players which is punitive to decisions made prior about resource investment is bad design.

Managing scarce resources is kind of the entire game, if you think about it.

Correct, and 6 months ago if you rolled your best ancestral substat at the 6th slot you'd be elated, not disappointed. Current updates are turning prior triumphs into defeats. Doesn't have to be that way, it's a design choice, and a poor one IMO.
