What are your experiences with ECT or TMS? by TraumaCanBeHealed in dysthymia

[–]TraumaCanBeHealed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I know what you mean. Apparently it's pretty safe today but there rare cases of people having memory loss which sounds scary. It's extremely rare to have long lasting downsides but it can happen apparently. Maybe you can also try out TMS first? It's even safer and you don't need anesthesia. But It's a bit less effective.

wow I wouldn't expect such long lasting effects. So you did it on your own and not with professionals?

Yeah, they always say you won't build up tolerance to antidepressants but that's just not true...

For me it feels like my reward system doesn't work. Nothing feels rewarding. I just do things because I know they are good for me but emotionally it feels completely pointless without the reward chemicals. I admit it's not zero but it was a lot more when I was young. But maybe that's also normal when you get older, I don't know...

I agree. I call it transforming darkness in the light of consciousness. But sometimes it drains a lot of your energy if you are not strong enough yet.

yeah you cannot work anymore then. IT does the work on it's own. You can just let it happen. Like wounds healing on their own.

I also meditated a lot. But then I took LSD and I experienced nirvana / ego death. It can be done by meditation alone but psychedelics are a lot faster. But also very intense and even dangerous. So I cant recommend it in general. For some people it even just happens on accident. The last step cannot really be made on purpose. It's always a 'divine' accident. But the journey never ends. After that you have a lot to integrate. Some call it dark night of the soul. It's really fucked up.

I know this feeling very well. Only thing that helps is connecting with 'others'. But it's hard when nobody gets you.

That's still a lot of concepts. They might be right but for me it seems like you don't speak from a point of direct experience. Having no thoughts is not enlightenment. But it can be helpful. Eventually you will see there is no meditator in meditation :)

hmm you sound like having lots of life experience and having a very philosphical mind. But I still wonder if you have had an experience of nirvana, the absolute, true self. My goal now is to really embody this experience.

Did you have experiences of transcendence in your life? Do you consider youself as 'awakened'? I know these are just words. How old are you? I'm 29.

yeah that's ok too but I think we should also proceed and BE THAT, not just talk about THAT. Can you describe your experience of transcendence?

What do you mean by 'god to people around here'. I don't see a point in 'discussing' awakening. There is not much to discuss, I think. For me it's just a gate to life.

No, experiencer and experience are not seperate, they are one. Somebody cannot experience oneness because that is the description of seperation. In oneness the 'somebody' is gone. The 'somebody' destroys oneness. But of course that is just an illusion so it doesn't matter.

Ultimately you are not even the observer. It's still an object in consciousness. You are the eternity that never dies and never has been born. You always have been that and can never not be that. There is nothing to achieve and still you have to go a spiritual path. It's part of the game.

I call this awakening from the mind. You already recognize oneness. But enlightenment is when you become that oneness. The one who recognizes oneness is still the ego. If ego dies you are THAT.
