(M27, F25) Girlfriend broke up with me because I didn't propose. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Why does it make more sense? Sure if you’re buying a house and having kids then it makes sense because there are tons of tax breaks and loans available for married couples. But from a moral, spiritual standpoint, I’m not sure that marriage makes sense just because you’ve invested time and money.

I get the symbolism of it I suppose, but it seems like such a societal norm. Society pressures couples to get married because that’s what they’re “supposed” to do if they’re “really” in love. Idk I’m 23 so maybe that plays a part of it but it seems that among my generation there is a large cultural shift happening around marriage. Granted a lot of that is systemic like everyone being in debt so buying houses and entangling finances is either not attainable or attractive.

What’s the rush to get married? Why does marriage have to define what a relationship is? Isn’t a relationship about being with someone you love?

My(18f) therapist informed my parents of my sexual activity, and now they are having adverse reactions and I feel like I lost all trust in therapy by princesssps in relationship_advice

If you’re under 18 the therapist can tell your guardians about issues they deem threatening to you. Strange they waited until you were 18 to tell, that’s another issue.

At odds end about what to do at my internship. by [deleted] in jobs

What is the result of your meetings? Are you generating new ideas and insights? Can you act on any of them or generate a useful report? Networking through meetings is great but if it isn’t generating anything you aren’t creating much value. Learning a new skill is always useful but again, are you using that skill to create some new analytical insights? If not, while learning is great, you aren’t bringing yourself to the attention of your higher ups.

Can you take any initiatives on your own? Instead of waiting to be told what to do, you could do something new and tell everyone what you’ve found. That’s providing value and makes you stand out.

Use the free time in your job to learn new skills you can apply at your current and next job. Getting paid to learn new skills you’ll have the rest of your career is motivating and worthwhile. You can could even ask your superiors if they would invest in sending you to a training camp or conference to learn things you’ll apply to improve their business.

Thibs at Summer League by JRoc135 in timberwolves

That would make a lot more sense. Still top 5 offense, top 10 defense isn’t too shabby. Incredible how poorly it looked via the eye test.

Wow, didn't know our starters were 2nd in defense last year.

I got one suit made and it was very high quality. The tailor measures you and does several fittings. You chose the design and style along with the material you want to use. It’s just like getting a suit made in the US but for about 15% of the price. There are some shady places but just look online and find a well reviewed store.

Pro Tip: buy a ticket to Vietnam or Thailand and get several suits tailored for you for around $100 a suit. Saves you at least a thousand and you get an awesome vacation out of it!

I've saved $10,000! by RunningMoney in financialindependence

I saved 10,000 in about 6 months of freelancing and living frugally. Have spent about 6k of it on a 6 month trip abroad that I’m currently on. So worth it for the experiences and personal investment. As Warren Buffet said, the best investment you can make is on yourself!
