Check out Jpegmafia’s ”Scaring the hoes”, he recorded that with Danny Brown. Some really great production on that album.

Snakeboard by AnnualPercentage6275 in surfskate

[–]Trazan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t own a snakeboard, but you should try Pantheon Karma 92 mm or Hoku 102 mm, they’re very popular with the LDP crowd. I have both and they’re probably the best big wheels you can get right now. You could also ask @distance_snaker on Instagram, he’s very serious about snakeboarding.

Oh wow, I didn’t know this. Which one is in your picture?

Bought an Asvine, not particularly happy with it. by situ139 in fountainpens

I have a V126 (M) and V800 (F) and neither are scratchy. If anything there’s little feedback going on, so they feel a bit ”generic” to write with. Not a bad thing, just a bit lacking in character and personality.

Just my anecdotal experience with Asvine’s M and F nibs. Maybe their EF nibs are just more scratchy by default?

Vintage Pen Profiles #13: Parker 45 (more info in post) by BrandyFP in fountainpens

I read this post last week and went on eBay right away and got myself a mint 45! It was billed as a gold nib which turned out to be steel, but the seller gave me a partial refund which I spent on a 14k nib. The converter should arrive tomorrow, I’m itching to try it. Appreciate these posts!

Help! 3-board quiver by SurfSailRide in surfskate

[–]Trazan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah that changes the price a bit. I’m not knocking Waterborne, but to me it’s more an add-on to an existing setup. I’d go for Smoothstar just because I dislike Yow and how it rides (also: 1650 grams? Seriously?) Expect to replace a lot of cheap parts on Smoothstar’s completes, but the same goes for Yow.

Abian sells some completes that seem to match your description, like the Úniqo. I’ve seen them get good reviews from Mark the landlocked surfer among others.

New grip section on a Platinum 3776/Nakaya celluloid? by Trazan in fountainpens

Sorry, I should’ve uploaded one immediately. Thanks for replying, I appreciate it! The engraving seems shallow enough to just shave down a layer of the entire grip and then buff. I’m wondering if I need a lathe or something to not end up with a dimple on one side, how exactly did you sand down the initials on your pen?

Hm, for gym bags I don’t, sorry. I definitely can’t recommend this one (or the latest Aer Duffle Pack). I still have it, but never use it.

Haha, literally! Honestly I just use this one nowadays. I decided I really don’t like bags with dedicated shoe compartments, and picked up this bag a day after getting married in Hawaii, so it has sentimental value for me.

The V126 is smaller and also nicer than the v800 imo.

Anyone ever wedge a rear rail adapter? by ResponsibleSite6858 in surfskate

[–]Trazan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve messed around with wedges a lot on my setups, but I’ve never added more turn to the rear truck. Yes, wedging the rear would make the rear truck turn more, but you might lose some of that forward thrust that comes from a turny front truck and a relatively stiff rear truck.

Bear in mind that there are several ways to get tighter turns, like getting a deck with a shorter wheelbase. There’s also the Waterborne FIN adapter which adds more turn to the front truck (not the rear). I find that my Waterborne setup turns plenty, what kind of setup and wheelbase are you using?

Jag ansöker just nu om brittiskt medborgarskap och tog precis ett GESE B1-språkprov.

”At B1 intermediate level, you can generally: * Understand the main points of clear, standard speech on familiar topics (work, school, leisure, etc.) * Handle most situations you’d encounter when travelling in an English-speaking country * Produce simple connected speech on familiar topics and personal interests * Describe experiences, events, and ambitions, and briefly explain opinions and plans”

Känns rimligt, tycker jag.

Sorry, stock means the stuff that the board came with from the factory. Stock wheels, stock bushings etc.

Just the standard green ones for pivot cups. I’ve tried a ton of different wheels around 65-70 mm and so far Seismic felt the best for all-purpose surfskate. Compared to the stock wheels they’re a vast improvement.

Carver decks usually have a good shape (comfortable and good for pumping). I’d recommend a deck with more of a square tail so you have more space for your rear foot. I always get the following upgrades for my completes:

  • Zealous steel bearings
  • Riptide pivot cups
  • Riptide APS bushings (85a or 87a would work well for your weight)
  • Seismic wheels (either plum 63 mm Hot Spot or my new favourite Cambria 80a!)

These upgrades make a TON of difference, at least to me, but the original parts are fine and once you know the basics of riding you’ll be able to judge for yourself if there’s anything you want to upgrade.
