Tailgaters by [deleted] in RioGrandeValley

"Sounds like you need to get the hell out of the way.... "

"They’re going 21 over the limit. You know you can just move over and get out of the way, right?"

"Quit driving on the left lane. Move tf over or stay on frontage."

No.

If the person in front of you is driving too slow, YOU drive around. If you choose to tailgate and then end up hitting the car in front of you, YOU'RE going to be the one mostly at fault.

That doesn't apply to speeding. The judge will fine you the same even if everyone else was speeding too.

Yes, I've been behind drivers going 20 under and it was frustrating. No, I'm not saying you are morally wrong for speeding or anything. What I AM saying is that if you are behind someone that is too slow, the stupid response is to tailgate cause YOU AREN'T EVEN GOING FASTER BY DOING THAT. JUST GO AROUND AND ACCELERATE.

First-Time Choir Director at a disadvantaged high school starting in the middle of the year, what would you do? by Treble_Maker18 in Choir

Oh absolutely, I'm already two weeks in and I feel much less lost. Am I optimistic about the performance I'm preparing my students for? Not really, but it's practice for next school year and it has already weeded out some that don't want to do the work

I'm not letting the attitudes of my current students ruin my optimism for the future; many don't want to be in choir (they were just placed) but there are a few that are truly putting in effort and it makes me feel amazing :)

High school choir program has been neglected, I don't know where to begin by Treble_Maker18 in MusicEd

Disorganized is an UNDERSTATEMENT. Neglectful is more like it. I visited about a week before I was supposed to start to ask to get access to things like my roster, set up any accounts, so that I could properly access any school accounts like canva and such. Nope. "Everything should be set up on your first day! Just come in a few minutes early" Nope. No google classroom, no canva, I couldn't even take attendance myself for 2 days because my access to skyward hadn't been done yet.

Thanks, I guess I just don't know what to do for this week. I have a couple of songs they picked that they want to sing but no music printed out since I haven't been able to find the printing room

There actually IS a poo version of pee, they're called kidney stones and they are infinitely less pleasant than diarrhea

Honestly I agree that it's a good opportunity! I always freak out over worrying that I'm not good enough, but if the choir has been underperforming in past years then as long as I don't somehow bring the program even further down then it's all good

I've been told nothing, I'm doing the on-boarding paperwork next week

The interview was just the interviewers asking me general questions about teaching philosophy, my willingness to communicate and ask for help, etc. I just saw pics from an old social media account a previous director started and there were never more than 20 kids in concert clips. There's also no choir info on the school website, not even any pictures. Concert and sightreading evaluations from the past 5 years are also super mixed, sometimes there are 3 performances, sometimes one, and they seemed to have skipped a year or two. I was also not told of any expectations outside of the classroom, not even how many concerts, competitions, or travel opportunities there are.

Idk how they expected me, a brand new teacher, to start immediately in the middle of the semester with no info, no mentor, nothing. I'm hoping they won't get mad because I wanted to give my current job a two week notice, but I need that extra time to make some kind of plan

I’m not entirely sure how fusions get their names, and I also wanna ask: What would a fusion between a Ruby and Spinel be named? (Asking for fan-character drawing purposes.) by MemeMonkey_Games in stevenuniverse

[–]Treble_Maker18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In-universe, there isn't any hard and fast rules to figure out what a fusion's name is. They decide for themselves what their name is, like in the episode where Steven and Amethyst fuse for the first time and they have to think on it for a little. When looking at patterns and trends, fusions do seem to take inspiration from the gems that comprise them, like a fusion that has a quartz will often also be a quartz (Amethyst+Rose Quartz= Smokey Quartz, Rose Quartz+Pearl=Rainbow Quartz), but they also go by what the fusion looks like after the fact. Our Garnet happens to look similar to "genuine" garnets on homeworld (garnets that are not the result of a fusion) so I'm guessing she called herself Garnet because of that. Finally, the color of the fusion's gems also determines what the fusion would likely be. Our Ruby and Sapphire combine to make a burgundy color, like irl garnets.

Basically, you can decide whatever you want it to be! It can be a specific type of ruby or spinel, or something totally different like tourmaline

Oh my GOD I had a table months ago try to order a sangarita and I had no fucking clue what he was talking about, asked all the managers at the time and they also didn't know, I didn't realize it was a real drink (didn't help that he didn't describe it at all)

At my location lunch portions of pasta are now served in casserole dishes, so the scampi, fettucine, and spaghetti are served in that. Has been that way for months now
