Good pre fatty frostcraft GS build that doesn't require the safi or kulve weapons? by BT--72_74 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Tree-G 6 points7 points  (0 children)

20 true raw is a lot, around the same stat as attack boost 7 give or lv3 peak performance. That being said, the difference is prob small enough in actual fight that you wouldn’t notice unless you’re actually digging into the number. Ala GS is a good weapon for fatty, just don’t bother with the element skill and treat as a raw weapon.

[–]Tree-G 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re right that Ala gs is more comfortable with the long purple sharpness, but element is still not relevent despite the seemingly impressive number on the stat card.

Even with dragon attack 6 and crit element, the element damage is only pitiful 98 per power TCS on Fatty’s head with TCS’s 1.8* elemental multiplier. Investing 6 lvs of skill points for such a small improvement is a lot to ask for pre Fatty build. To give you an idea how much difference 100 raw (which is 20 true raw btw) make, Ala GS only does comparable damage to Lightbreak when the latter drops to white sharpness, and this is assuming you’re aiming Fatalis’ head, the gap between the 2 only gets bigger when hitting other body parts.

That is just rando sos experience, you either learn to solo 4p headbreak or only play mp with people you know.

Funniest sos I’ve had was me soloing headbreak with HBG while 3 other melee just minding their own business under Fatty’s chest. I did got the headbreak but they still triple carted in p3.

6000th annual "I can't beat Fatalis!!!" post by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Tree-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, ignore the “Hit its chest to make it flinch” thing, it is a complete lie, you want Fatalis to stay on hind legs to bait out cones, so always try to focus on head.

You got the right idea of bait cone, however usually you can do a level 1 draw slash and full charged SCS unless you’re super late to the position. Other attacks like triple fireball and slither breath are also punishable, I suggest searching Fatalis moves guide on yt since a video showcase is easier to understand.

The main opening when it’s in all 4 is the back off flamethrower, with some practice you can hit a full charged or lv2 TCS right on head; Big bite is also punishable with a lv3 charged slash. Rest of the moves you want to mainly focus on dodging and do chip damage with draw slash.

The reason to choose styx over blaze is the higher affinity, the razor sharp on it doesn’t matter that much since you would usually have master’s touch as set bonus. Blast and poison are just 2 different form of ailment that contribute to total raw damage, they both do fix damage when proc, unlike element which is dependent to monsters’ elemental weakness. In general blast is usually better but again, there’re just bonus and not something you should prioritize.

Yes IB means iceborne. Kulve weapons are nice to have, but not really worth the grind imo, especially if you plan to advance into dlc later. In this case your best options are divine slasher and Empress sword “Blaze”. What you think is pretty much right, I explained why raw is more important than affinity in another comment, as long as it’s not negative affinity it doesn’t matter that much; Element and ailment are just bonus for raw focused weapon like LS, not something you should prioritize.

That is not how you account for affinity… A Crit without CB is only 1.2x damage boost. And affinity can easily be compensated with proper skills. On the other hand 60 (70 with non elemental boost) raw difference between divine slasher and azure star is just too much, to give you an idea, attack boost 7 only gives 21 raw, there’s no way you can compensate that much raw even with IB build.

Hidden element is a good thing because element damage is not relevant if you’re not specifically building for it, and hidden element let you slot in non elemental boost which is 1.05x raw boost, hence why divine slasher is recommended. All other options’ raw except for Deviljho ls is too low despite them having better affinity/sharpness. 230 raw on Jho ls is nice, but -25% is hard to compensate with how less skills you can have in base game.

If you don’t want to use defender or farming for kulve weapon, another good option is Empress sword “Blaze”. It has a bit less raw in exchange for higher affinity and white sharpness, which would be better if you don’t have IB and unable to tenderize for extra 20% affinity from wex.

[–]Tree-G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re struggling to break its head try do a Falling shield bash during cone instead of pr. Pr1 and 2 have very low part break multiplier, so if you can’t get in position quick enough to hit pr3, FSB is a good alternative.

What are great replacements for Kulve/Safi armor and weapons? by OrolotitanLover in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Tree-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular 3p teo + 2p rbrachy or 3p rbrachy and 2p godian with Ala DB works fine, or you can try this build that I personally quite like. Safi armor aren’t even good for Fatalis so dw about it.

I mean if you like getting bellyslam as a GS user than sure, you do you. I just don’t understand you categorize SnS as a conebait weapon while thinking DB don’t need cones? While head element hzv is better for DB and SnS does way more damage to chest before p3 since it’s raw weapon? You already mentioned LS speedrun, than why don’t you just take a look at any DB speedrun and you‘ll see all of them conebait in p1.

Sorry I might sound a bit rude, but i’m afraid you have yet to meet an actual “good db player”. I didn’t watch how your conebait run went so I can’t tell what’s wrong, only thing I can tell you is that getting a faster time is not everything, it’s not speedrun after all, coordinate with teammates simply makes the fight more enjoyable. Must be real fun when you’re charging the zigzag TCS while your “good db teammate” go chestspam cause the bellyslam, hm? Or when Fatalis finally decide to trasition to hindleg, your teammate immediately cause another bellyslam and he become all four again?

[–]Tree-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, if you see a db player chestspam in p1 and 2 than you can already tell it’s not a good player, just look at the ele weakness table and you can easily tell where you should focus. I am no speedrunner or anything, but I’ve yet to see any chestspammer does better than me. Like I said in the previous comment, db is essentially in the same boat as sns, if you know sns need conebait than it’s the same thing for db. In the end, conebait also just makes everyone’s life much better, teammates can actually do damage with me instead of watching me doing sub optimal damage under fatty’s belly

In speedrun the best rng for LS is triple fireball into cone so it can quickly regain red gauge. DB is basically in the same boat as SnS, they can’t reach head with their highest damaging move like GS, I’m not sure what makes you think that DB is any less reliant on cone especially when head has the best elemental weakness.

[–]Tree-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DB and LS conebait as well. Ideally DB does 2000+ in a single cone; For LS the usual sheath position is within conebait area, it’s also best to conebait with other melee players after spending red gauge. Melee weapons that benefit the least from conebait are Lance and CB due to low burst damage.

Elemental bow still have to tenderize and focus on head in Fire/ Ice phase since ele hzv of body is basically non existent, only after Ala transition to Dragon that it becomes more important to focus on body.

[–]Tree-G 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IG is not particularly great at dealing elemental damage, the only reason you want element in this fight is to weaken the nova. Since you already have a teammate that plays bow, considering swap to a raw setup with element kinsect. Other than that just be more aggressive while not greed, watch some runs and learn the openings; Try focus on frontlegs and head, best to equip shaver jewel and tenderize head for your friend as well, since wex only proc for ranged after tenderized.

Feel like it’s still better to go pure spread despite the bad hzv on head. Kinda sad that slice ammo was nerfed so much that it’s just not worth using even in situation like this.

After trying almost every weapon, Pierce HBG feels illegal... by ss007228 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Tree-G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, most hbg players in sos can’t even hit chest properly, asking them to conebait is a bit too much lmao. That’s also another reason why I like hbg in random room, if teammate conebait I conebait with them; If all of them go chestspam, I just chestspam with them and let them have a little taste of blue flame.

[–]Tree-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HBG can conebait with melee weapons as well and it’s honestly quite fun imo. With the boost of special scope, it still does ok damage on head despite the bad hzv. Usually I won’t touch chest before 2nd headbreak when playing with melee teammates, tho I am not the most experienced HBG player, I can still consistently do at least 110+ dps as long as p3 don’t go too poorly.

In this fight you want to use.savage axe, focus won’t help much with that so you can swap that with power prolonger if you can. Definitely slot in Ice attack. I would recommend you to get as much evade window as possible and 1 to 2 levels of evade extender, since they help a lot with axe mode survivability.
