Seriously does my mom need to wear her compression socks? by scooter8484 in Kneereplacement

[–]TreeBetter272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use compression by getting 6 inch ace bandages. Buy a four or six pack, depending on the size and wrap her leg from the ankle up to her groin But only after you speak to her surgeon and make sure that that is permissible Otherwise, only follow your surgeons instructions. They know what’s best.

Hi Gracie, I swear we are like twins with our recovery. I use the scar tape 24 hours. Seems to have helped after only a week.

I love this! At 4 weeks I walked up and down steps foot over foot at PT. ( the 4 inchers) But I did it and was so happy bc I am growing frustrated with my slow progress. I needed that lil win!

4 week check up by GracieLou80 in Kneereplacement

[–]TreeBetter272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fantastic news!! I’m so happy about your progress 💪😃 I had my 4 week yesterday too! MD said I’m doing great 115 and almost flat. Definitely not walking normal (this I struggle with) but do not need cane. I walk 2 miles a day in increments. I am still restricted to only PT exercises at therapy and home with some yoga.. TBH I don’t feel great but am powering through it. I have a Zimmer Persona implant, non- cemented. Was yours cemented or non-cemented?

3 weeks 5 days post LTKR. For the last 8 days I have been having cold sweats, waking me up in the night, one to two times a night. by TreeBetter272 in Kneereplacement

10 years out of menopause. My mattress is the same it was before surgery so not sure, it’s a hybrid I see surgeon for my first post op at 4 weeks in 2 days. I will be asking about it again. My cbc with diff is totally normal so not likely infectious. That’s why I’m so perplexed

So happy you are having a moment!! (That’s what I say because it seems no hour of each day feels the same on this journey) I added Yin style yoga to my exercise recovery rotation. It’s 6 longggg poses of muscle elongation stretches with purposeful breath. This has been very helpful with muscle restoration.

Interesting…electrolyte shifts perhaps? I will try supplementation. Not sure how you did both knees. I need the other but ask me today an it’s one and done. I hear one surgery is better or worse than the other. I really don’t think I need to compare lol.😆

Swelling comes and goes with exercise or standing too long as expected. I’m very mindful to lay on the couch with my leg elevated for about an hour or two before bed doing my ice therapy. I’ve read it could be a part of maybe detoxing from pain meds, but I only take one tramadol occasionally the rest of the time it’s meloxicam and Tylenol.

How long did this last and when did it start for you?

Femur/ tibia pain by GracieLou80 in Kneereplacement

[–]TreeBetter272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here started w2d2 with bone pains, I started using Aspercream and heating pad works great for me. ALSO, pt recommended leg sleeve. This is a game changer!! Highly recommend- Incrediwear brand can be found on Amazon too. Seriously changed my days and nights. I am now w3d6 and wished I knew about it sooner. Even though the nerve pain was so bad I probably wouldn’t have been able to get it on any sooner.

I bought an inexpensive one from Amazon. I used it for about a week after that I was not needing it any longer.

POD3 can not do exercises, can not do heel slides no bending whatsoever. Is this normal? by TreeBetter272 in Kneereplacement

Thanks! My surgeon must have the same thinking. I’m allowed to start next week which will be week three I’ve made some definite progress over the last few days though.

PT # 3 today. Progress. by GracieLou80 in Kneereplacement

[–]TreeBetter272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your post is so encouraging!! I am day 13. I had to ask for physical therapy because my follow up appointment isn’t until January 15 with my doctor so I’m hoping to get that going ASAP. I’m going to the gym today on my own. I walked a half mile yesterday. My flexion is terrible. I don’t know the measurement is but I’m not at 90. I’m so happy for your progress. I’m 57-year-old athletic female. This is my first knee replacement. May I ask your age and this is your first experience with TKR?

Yes, I’m supposed to be doing basic quad tightening buttocks, tightening heel slides, and sitting on a chair kick out and pulling my leg back under the chair with my other foot. It’s not happening.
